South Bend, Indiana Mayor Peter Buttigieg is the latest Democrat to earn flavor-of-the-week honors from the fickle liberal media. Since the campaign silly season opened, biased and fake news outlets have heralded one long-shot personality after another to be the left’s champion.
Vermont Sen. “Crazy” Bernie Sanders was the champion of the poor until a look at his finances outed him as another Washington millionaire. Beto O’Rourke was super cool until that drunk driving and computer hacking news broke. California’s Sen. Kamala Harris looked ominous until Americans found out she launched her career on the back of an illicit affair. Seedy, to say the least.
Massachusetts Sen. “Fauxcahontas” Warren flunked a DNA test, and Creepy Joe Biden apparently has a non-consensual hair-sniffing fetish. That won’t fly in the #MeToo era. And now comes golden boy “Mayor Pete.” But after learning these four things about the fake news media’s latest bromance, his 15 minutes of fame will pass like all the others.
1: Mayor Pete and the Secret Tapes
The Indiana Democrat already has a major scandal brewing that could sink his meteoric rise within the Democratic Party. Mayor Pete demoted South Bend’s first-ever African-American police chief, and allegations of racism are swirling. According to reports, five cassette tapes exist that prompted Pete to slap down former chief Darryl Boykins.
The demotion was promoted as part of a shake-up of the department following stinging lawsuits. But the tapes may have captured widespread racist remarks, and Mayor Pete doesn’t want them to be aired in public. That lack of transparency already has Black leaders in the 25-percent African-American community unsettled.
“There’s a level of frustration,” African-American city councilwomen Karen White said. “We want this issue to be brought to closure to ensure this issue does not polarize our community further. We have a right to know, as do our citizens.”
Reports indicate the Department of Justice has been asked to intervene, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson has urged an investigation into police misconduct over racism. Mayor Pete’s presidential bid could be dead in the water if those tapes are released. A judge is expected to rule on whether the public has a right to know the truth.
2: Mayor Pete Turned Career Politician
Running for the presidential 2020 nomination isn’t the Harvard-educated Navy veteran’s first attempt to up his status. Since becoming South Bend’s mayor in 2012, the far-left liberal already made a failed power grab within his party.
In 2017, he unsuccessfully made a bid for chair of the Democratic National Committee. The 37-year-old tried to persuade insiders that it was time to take millennials like him more seriously. He was clearly too naïve to lead as the DNC moved to the extreme left embracing abortion-on-demand, socialism, and open borders. Making matters worse, he turned tail and quit before the votes for leadership were cast. No one wants a quitter for president.
3: Mayor Pete is a Bernie Sanders Groupie
The openly gay Democrat wrote an essay that won a Profiles in Courage award back in 2000. Then 18 years old, Pete was one of those young Bernie groupies that thought his ideas were new, exciting and even good. He painted Crazy Bernie as a warrior for social justice and equality.
“Sanders’ positions on many difficult issues are commendable, but his real impact has been as a reaction to the cynical climate which threatens the effectiveness of the democratic system. His energy, candor, conviction, and ability to bring people together stand against the current of opportunism, moral compromise, and partisanship which runs rampant on the American political scene,” the young Pete wrote. “He and few others like him have the power to restore principle and leadership in Congress and to win back the faith of a voting public weary and wary of political opportunism. Above all, I commend Bernie Sanders for giving me an answer to those who say American young people see politics as a cesspool of corruption, beyond redemption.”
You’d think the two were dating after reading that.
4: Mayor Pete is an End Of Days Climate Cult Member
In recent interviews about his views on the economy, Mayor Pete was quick to revert to the radical notions driven by Doomsday cultists like New York Congresswoman AOC and others.
“I think climate is the biggest economic issue of our time, too. What kind of economy are we going to have if cities are becoming less and less inhabitable if we’re experiencing crop failures and heightening natural disasters? The problem with climate is it wrecks our chance at economic security as well as physical security,” Mayor Pete said. “So, of course, we want to continue building an equitable and a growing economy. It’s just that we can’t do that if we’re totally ignoring the biggest threat our economy has seen since the Great Depression.”
Apparently, a vote for Mayor Pete is a vote for the Green New Deal.
Lastly, people call him “Mayor Pete” because they can’t figure out how to pronounce his last name.
