The Department of Defense shared photos of Afghan refugees escaping on a reported “U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster” from the Kabul Airport, but upon closer inspection, the photos were of a plane from the UAE. What’s going on?
Either the DOD added the wrong plane in the photo for security purposes or simply said it was an American plane when it was not. As one Twitter user sarcastically pointed out, “Glad to know you guys are in command of the situation.”
The DOD has since been a bit more careful after being busted on Twitter. A Wednesday post clearly noted, “Evacuees board an @AtlasAirWW aircraft for a departure flight from @RamsteinAirBase, Germany, on their way to the United States.”
An earlier post on Tuesday noted, “Evacuees enter a @Delta A350 767 commercial aircraft during at @RamsteinAirBase, Germany.” The post was later updated with a comment that said, “CORRECTION: The aircraft shown is a Boeing 767.”
They are apparently struggling at the DOD to identify aircraft in more ways than one. But at least the report on Wednesday of, “Afghanistan evacuees depart an @usairforce C-17 Globemaster lll at Naval Air Station Sigonella,” is really a U.S. plane.
Surprisingly, however, most of those being evacuated are not Americans. Former President Donald Trump posted an image of a cargo plane filled with Afghans last week that expressd what many Americans are thinking: “This plane should have been filled with Americans!”
If any Americans are left behind, and they likely will, it will be blood on the hands of Biden and those advising him. It’s amazing that not a single military leader has been fired or punished over the massive failure in Afghanistan.
Maybe Biden wants you to think it’s not a failure after all and that it was a success. At least the war is over, right? Not exactly. If you evacuate the military to send 6,000 soldiers back into the country immediately taken over by terrorists to rescue only some of the Americans you left behind, I wouldn’t call that a win.
Instead, the White House is manipulating terms, calling Americans in Afghanistan “stranded” and trying to salvage a win for the left. But the only win is that it has failed even worse. The Taliban have allowed Americans to mostly leave for now, but are now reportedly blocking entry to the Kabul airport.
It’s hard to really know what’s happening in the country as news sources are limited and may be inaccurate. It’s not real heartwarming to notice the Taliban spokesman freely gushes information on Twitter, a platform that permanently banned Trump. At the same time, Biden won’t take a question from a reporter and shuffles off to one of his vacation destinations to hide out until the worst is over.
There’s a lot of misinformation going on, and it’s not just about one airplane being mislabeled. Instead, it’s the entire Biden administration that seeks to call failure a victory as Americans grow less safe by the day.
