China Gives Republicans A Big Warning: “Never Do This”

China indirectly cautioned House Speaker Kevin McCarthy about traveling to Taiwan during a news conference on Monday in reaction to a report that he would like to go later this year.

“We encourage some individuals in the United States to sincerely adhere to the one-China concept,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in a press conference on Monday. While implicitly referring to McCarthy’s intentions to visit, the spokesperson stated that China is “opposed to any formal contacts with Taiwan.”

China was replying to a query about a Punchbowl News article stating that the Pentagon was in the “early stages” of preparing a trip to the island nation for the California Republican later this year. The official did not clarify how China would react to the trip.

McCarthy’s visit would be the second straight year that a House speaker has visited the island country, after Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) visit during her tenure. Even though the Biden administration finally authorized the visit Taiwan, she got warnings from China and the White House at the time. McCarthy backed Pelosi’s trip.

China intensified military exercises close to the island at the time of Nancy Pelosi’s trip in an effort to frighten any potential visitors. Despite China’s intimidation measures, Pelosi made the trip and became the most senior figure to visit the nation since 1997, when then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) visited.

McCarthy’s visit, which is expected to take place in the spring, will almost certainly be a big endeavor for the Pentagon, given the high security threats connected with the trip and China’s probable use of the same intimidation techniques it used in the run-up to Pelosi’s visit. Notably, Congress has granted increased security assistance to the island nation since Pelosi’s visit.

It would also coincide with McCarthy and House Republicans taking a tough position on China in the next Congress, forming a bipartisan Select Committee to study China and identify measures to prevent the communist country’s rising worldwide influence. Only 65 lawmakers, all of whom were Democrats, voted against the committee’s formation.

  1. Trump would’ve responded with the middle finger salute, but the Chicoms wouldn’t have dared to threaten HIM in the first place!

  2. I believe President Trump will be reinstated. Can you imagine what the international reaction will be? Lesser nations would be bursting at the seams with hope and confidence. It would embolden the rest of the world! Meanwhile, China would be dying of constipation! That’s OK. With what they did to the world with Covid, their dismantling must and will happen. Keep the faith, America. Good is coming!

  3. During my decades of military service, our Nation received often threats of what not to do or what we must do. Not all of our leaders responded as they were told tyo do by our “enemies.” Some did. For instance, Lyndon Johnson was warned not just by China, Russia, and North Vietnam, but his own political party to keep the Vietnam War going on, but not to destroy North Vietnam. The reason for that was to keep big businesses in the USA prospering, making war equipment and supplies. Politicians who were in power – Democrats – didn’t give a rat’s ass about the human lives it would cost for either warring side. The USA could have easily won the war in Vietnam, but it is difficult to win a war when you are prohibited from destroying your enemy’s capability to continue a war. The USA won damn near every battle in Vietnam, but thanks to the Democrat running our Government at the time, the USA lost the war. It’s been roughly 50 years since we hauled our asses out of South Vietnam, with our tails tucked , and it seems as though we haven’t learned a damned thing. My dad, and his brother (who had been an Army Ranger during WW II) both taught me when I was finishing my college career, that: if you see or sense that there is no other way to avoid a fight with a bully, then By God, haul off and hit the bully with all you have before he has a chance to take a swing at you. It’s difficult, but not impossible, to win a conflict on pure defense. There are times when people must take a stand to defend themselves, or live a life of cowardice. Potential enemy Nations such as Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran pride themselves as World Bullies. Free World Nations must not allow those Nations to intimidate by using threats. Try diplomacy, again and again, but never lose the ability to stand up and be prepared to fight for what your Nation stands for.

  4. What does anyone with a brain suppose would happen if the US violated Chinese airspace? Blow the buggers out of our airspace. This was just a trial run to test our resolve. Next time it won’t be a wimpy spy balloon. It will be something much more deadly.
