Vice President Kamala Harris is in trouble. Even with the mainstream media on her side, Americans are unable to ignore her multiple gaffes, inability to run an organized office, and the way she dodges responsibility for absolutely everything.
The fact that she’s likely the “heir apparent” to President Joe Biden makes the matter even more problematic. To this end, leading Democrats have recently gathered to try to figure out how to improve her poor image ahead of the 2024 presidential elections. Not surprisingly, the group has taken to playing the “blame game,” stating the VP’s poor image is a result of sexism and racism rather than her own mistakes and problems.
The decision to blame the “-isms” for the VP’s woes is laughable when one considers recent polls. Trafalgar has found that nearly 64 percent of voters are either “not confident at all” or “not very confident” in Harris. The poll also found that women are less likely to trust her than men. Unless women are inherently sexist against other women, it’s clear the lack of support has nothing to do with gender.
It also has little to do with race. While Black Americans are more likely to support the Vice President than members of other races, polls have found that just over 62 percent of blacks have some level of confidence in her.
Left-leaning news outlet “The Week” may have gotten closer to the source of the problem in a recent article calling out the VP for focusing too heavily on progressive voters. However, it’s unlikely the VP’s problems would go away even if she did manage to reach out to independent voters, conservative Democrats, or even GOP voters.
As Townhall’s Matt Vespa has pointed out, Kamala Harris was simply never a strong candidate. This was evidenced by the fact that former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard sent the VP’s 2020 presidential campaign into a tailspin in one debate showing. Then-Senator Harris never recovered from the blow even though the mainstream media stuck by her side.
It’s possible for Harris to recover with voters when she has the entire media apparatus on her side. After all, many Americans still believe that former President Donald Trump was Vladimir Putin’s puppet, despite zero evidence. However, the odds are against her as her first six months on the job have been nothing short of disastrous.
