Not all companies with over one hundred workers agree with President Joe Biden’s Draconian vaccine edict. Even so, like their workers, they may have no choice in the matter. But as we suspected from the beginning, it doesn’t end there.
Democrats in Congress are working on an additional bit of legislation that will be snuck in along with the $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” bill to ensure that companies that knowingly or unknowingly hire unvaccinated workers are hit with massive fines for each “infraction”.
A “willful” or “repeated” violation could result in a fine as high as $700,000 per infraction, a massive increase in the current OSHA penalty, which stands at under $14,000 per infraction. Such huge fines would almost certainly bankrupt mid-size companies, as a single disgruntled worker could rat out colleagues or company management and bring the firm down. At the same time, following the law could also backfire on companies, as businesses would be forced to fire workers without being able to find replacements.
The Democrats were clearly trying to sneak this bit of legislation into the massive $3.5 trillion bill, hoping that no-one would notice the change or realize the huge impact it would have. Even so, President Biden has made it clear that he intends to force his vaccine mandates on the general population.
The president has dared Republican governors opposing the new laws to “come and get me,” and has threatened to run over those who resist him. While Republican governors will almost certainly take action, passing such penalties into law could complicate matters. The courts would view executive action by a president and a law passed by Congress in different lights. It’s happened before.
When the Biden Administration tried to extend the eviction ban, it was shot down in court as the Justices rightly stated that creating such a ban is the responsibility of Congress, not the Executive Branch. Now, however, the bill would be coming from Congress, and it would fall on the shoulders of those fighting the new law.
The steep fines the Democrats want to impose on companies that dare to hire unvaccinated workers show that they either know nothing about how to manage an economy, or care far more about pushing their agenda than keeping the economy afloat. Companies throughout the nation have found it difficult or even impossible in some cases to find needed employees. The result has contributed to rising inflation and shortages of a wide range of items.
Medical workers are in short supply, as many are choosing to lose their jobs rather than get the COVID vaccine. Rather than looking for solutions, the Democrats want to make them worse because they’ll feel better about themselves.
