This week, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board, which was chosen by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, stated that it has discontinued all diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
According to the CFTOD, the initiatives that were established by the old Reedy Creek Improvement Region that “discriminated against American people based on race and gender, costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars,” have been abolished, as declared by district administrator Glenton Gilzean.
The statement states that personnel “will also cease to be allowed to make use of any staff time to work on DEI initiatives.” The district’s DEI committee “will cease to exist and any DEI job responsibilities will be eliminated,” it stated.
The former district’s DEI efforts, according to a statement from Gilzean, “were illegal and just plain un-American.”
He said, “Our district will no longer support any effort to racially divide us or advance the idea that we weren’t all created equal. Having served as the previous president of the Central Florida Urban League, which is a civil rights group, I can state unequivocally that our community will only thrive when all of us put aside our differences and work together.”
According to the statement, finding firms that could comply with the DEI objectives cost the previous Reedy Creek Improvement Area “millions of dollars extra.”
DeSantis, who is presently running for president and is trailing former President Trump in the GOP presidential primary race, will benefit politically from the revelation.
According to The New York Times/Siena survey, which is regarded by FiveThirtyEight as the best poll in the country, no other contenders are polling anything close to double digits. The survey reveals a sharp decline in support for candidates following DeSantis, with former vice president Mike Pence, senator from South Carolina Tim Scott, and former governor of the state of South Carolina Nikki Haley all polling at 3%. All of the remaining contenders are at or below 2%.
Despite the fact that Trump looks to be in the lead right now with just over 50% of the vote, the poll from The New York Times/Siena revealed that 46% of those who supported Trump in the survey said they are “considering different candidates.”
The New York Times/Siena telling me ANYTHING, I immediately dismiss…
