Former Vice President Joe Biden has completely appropriated the far-left’s climate cult agenda.
After the Obama-era VP initially billed himself a “moderate Democrat,” he is saying the world has only nine years left to save itself, echoing infamous statements made by the likes of New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and primary rival Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The move is notable because, during the primaries, Biden stated that “nothing would fundamentally change” if he became president, reassuring potential voters that they didn’t have to worry about a leftward shift if he got nominated. However, now that he is the presumed candidate, he has completely gone back on his word and is now calling for revolutionary institutional changes.
Biden’s climate change plan is intertwined with a push for “environmental justice,” and embraces the Green New Deal as a “crucial framework.” Like AOC’s original Green New Deal, the former vice president’s platform includes lofty goals such as making all federal buildings and HUD-subsidized housing more energy-efficient, replacing all the nation’s school buses with eco-friendly vehicles in the next five years, and changing city regulations to allow for dense housing next to public transport.
The Democratic nominee’s platform also includes provisions that would strengthen labor unions while getting rid of Right to Work laws. This is basically an anti-jobs, anti-business, and anti-property agenda all at once.
Biden isn’t just embracing the far-left on environmental issues. A cursory look at his unity platform with Senator Sanders shows that the former VP would enact drastic changes that would affect the lives of every single person living in the United States. He would end cash bail across the U.S., forcing law enforcement officials to release criminals who are likely to commit more crimes. He would work against school vouchers and stop the spread of charter schools. He would recognize unions with majority sign-up, a move that could lead to workers who want to stay out of a union being intimidated into joining one.
The plan would also set up a public option toward universal health care, taking the nation closer to a fully government-run healthcare system with no alternatives.
Not long ago, Biden may have been able to pass for a “moderate” Democrat, that time is long gone. The presumptive nominee has aligned himself with the left wing of his party, and is now eager to upend the economy in order to implement its goals.
This has been a long time coming. Biden already has far-left politicians on his advisory boards — individuals who will likely be calling the shots considering the former VP’s mental state. At this point, a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for Bernie Sanders. They may have lost the primary on paper, but they seized the party in a much more subversive way.
