Kamala Harris Shredded for Weak Response on Not Visiting the Border

Vice President Kamala Harris was blasted by Americans on Tuesday after her weak response to visiting the nation’s southern border during the growing immigration crisis.

During an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, Harris was asked when she would visit the border.
Harris responded, “We’ve been to the border. We’ve seen the border.”

When Holt answered, “You haven’t been to the border,” highlighting he had personally asked about her own travel.

Harris said, “And I haven’t been to Europe,” followed by nervous laughter.

She added, “I don’t understand the point that you’re making. I’m not discounting the importance of the border.”

There’s a big difference between visiting the nation’s southern border and visiting Europe. America didn’t have 178,000 illegal immigrants enter the nation from Europe in April.

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz said Tuesday on Fox News that, “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris could fix the border crisis tomorrow by ending ‘catch and release’ and by reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy.
“But neither Kamala or Joe are willing to do that.”

Cruz is right. It’s not an issue of whether America can protect its border. It’s whether it will. The Biden administration continues its combination of blaming Trump and arguing for compassion “for the children” and “reuniting families.”

Neither argument works. First, Trump lowered illegal immigration—significantly. He also had a border wall under construction that Biden ended his first day in office through signing an executive order. There is nothing in that equation that equals blaming Trump.

The compassion argument fails too. In the desire to help kids and keep families together, the Biden administration has created its own network of international orphanages. More than 20,000 unaccompanied minors have been in U.S. custody. How is that helping kids?

That doesn’t include kids being left alone at the border. Or drug trafficking. Or human trafficking. Or sex trafficking. Or Latin American cartel members who have committed violent crimes and do so once in America.

If a consulting group did an analysis of costs versus benefits along the border, it would certainly recommend limiting immigration to a carefully controlled number to protect American citizens. For some reason, the entire Democrat Party can’t get over their open border agenda enough to realize it is making American citizens more vulnerable to harm every day.

More than 70 days ago, President Biden appointed the VP to lead the response to what he called the “immigration surge.” What has she done? After some video conferences and calls for 10 weeks, she finally visited Central America in person.

What did she do? She told Guatemalans not to come to the border. She also told the nation America would invest a bunch of money in their country.

The problem is that giving taxpayer dollars to the government won’t stop individual people from heading north. Plus, those who do are still walking right in without being stopped. The weak words and extra funding aren’t going to cut it.

Secure the border. Period. Everything else is talk, and from the most recent Harris interview, often weak talk.
