Many people were shocked and happy when President Joe Biden happily wore a Trump 2024 hat in front of other people at a fire station in Pennsylvania this week.
On September 11, 2001, 23 years ago, Biden was visiting the volunteer fire department in Shanksville when someone asked him to wear a political campaign cap from Trump.
“Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat because Kamala did so badly in last night’s debate,”
There was a video of the moment going around social media.
The Trump team used the situation to make fun of the Harris campaign.
“Thanks for your help, Joe!” the Trump War Room wrote on social media.
Andrew Bates, a spokesman for the White House, put out a short statement describing why the president chose to wear the hat.
People at the fire station heard Biden say that the country was “bipartisanly united after 9/11” and that “we needed to get back to that.”
As an act of kindness, he gave a Trump fan a hat. The follower then told him that the president should do the same and wear a Trump cap. “He wore it for a short time,” Bates said.
The Trump team said something else.
“Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat because Kamala did so badly in last night’s debate,” they said.
The use of the Trump hat wasn’t the only case of political politeness on Wednesday.
Earlier that day, at the event, Trump and Kamala Harris shook hands. A lot of people on social media praised how polite they were to each other after Tuesday night’s heated argument.
