President Joe Biden is still having to withstand criticism from Democratic mayors about the influx of immigrants into their cities; this criticism now extends to Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
Lori Lightfoot, the mayor of Chicago, has committed to traveling to Washington this week to meet with officials from the Biden administration to discuss the influx of migrants into the Windy City from the U.S.-Mexico border.
“I’m traveling to Washington later this week and going to be sitting down with some of the officials to discuss with them what the situations are on the ground here in Chicago but also to make sure that federal support is coming,” Lightfoot told journalists at a news press conference on Tuesday. “Not only to Chicago but in all the towns and states who are inviting… to make absolutely sure we have the resources we need.”
However, the Biden administration has proven resistant to political pressure regarding the southern border, whether it originates from Democratic big city mayors such as Lightfoot, Washington’s Muriel Bowser, or New York’s Eric Adams, or Republican governors such as Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Doug Ducey (R-AZ).
Bowser’s requests for the National Guard to assist in reducing the number of migrants entering her city have been twice refused by the Pentagon. The administration has also rebuffed calls for assistance from minor border cities, including those that have Democratic mayors.
Director of the Heritage Foundation Border Immigration and Security Center Lora Ries contrasted Biden with his former boss by saying, “Biden has reached the political decision that he’d rather be beaten up by the Right instead of by the Left.” He objects to the moniker “deporter in chief.”
A record-breaking 3 million migrants have been detained at the U.S.-Mexico border since Biden assumed office.
This spring and summer, Abbott and Ducey gained notoriety for transporting busloads of volunteer migrants to large cities, starting in Washington before spreading to other significant metro areas. Of the 8,900 migrants who have offered to board buses, Washington continues to be by far the biggest beneficiary, taking in an estimated 7,400. The local influence is stronger because the city is also smaller than New York and Chicago.
After only two busloads arrived in Chicago, Lightfoot started denouncing Abbott as a lousy Christian, a racist, and unpatriotic.
According to Abbott, the president should be the target of her rage rather than him.
He tweeted that “Mayor Lightfoot is targeting Texas rather than dealing with the real source of the border crisis: Joe Biden. Texas is doing Biden’s job to safeguard the border; his inaction at our border is endangering the lives of Texans and overloading our towns.”
The “sanctuary cities” of Chicago, New York, and Washington all formally welcome immigrants.
Bowser described the migrants arriving by bus as “a politically motivated stunt” that could spark a crisis in the nation’s capital. He also used the occasion to call for the district to become a state, which would enable Washington to call in the National Guard without obtaining permission from the federal government.
The White House has so far maintained its position that individuals who require resources can access them.

ai am amazed each day by the reaction of these liberal socialist mayors who are yelling about the bus loads of immigrants from Southern border being sent to their sanctuary cities. Texas has had to bear the financial and criminal problems from this influx of undocumented from who knows where coming into the state.
For decades Dallas County taxpayers alone have borne the financial burden of the county hospital deliver 1500 anchor babies a month … the women presented at last minute from across the border to deliver a baby who became a us citizen at tax payers expense upon birth there.
No one yelled and no one outside Texas helped with the costs. Now ..these sanctuary cities have had it for ONE month and are trying to call in national guard to help.
So strange.
Am I the only one out there who thinks its about time for the citizens of USA to help stop the flood of people crossing border? and to share the burden?
It’s about time all americans let their congress and senate representatives know that open borders is not in the best interest of our government. We need to know who is coming into our country and what are their motives. We also need to curtail the importation of drugs coming from China & Mexico. (300 of ourr young peopleare dying each day. Speak up everyone.
