Musk’s New Party Sparks Major Conservative Concerns

Just when conservatives thought the political landscape couldn’t get more complicated, Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and tech titan, has decided to toss his hat into the political ring by launching his own party—the so-called “America Party.” This surprising shift comes after Musk’s recent and highly public falling-out with President Trump over the controversial One Big Beautiful Bill Act. But conservatives should be wary: Musk’s move threatens to fracture our united front at a critical time when America’s resurgence under Trump demands solidarity and laser-focused attention.

Musk’s political stunt has not been well-received by the market. Tesla shares plummeted nearly 7 percent following his announcement, wiping out over $79 billion in market value overnight. Investors, understandably concerned, have watched Musk’s net worth tumble by a stunning $15.3 billion. Musk might be the world’s richest man, but clearly, his wealth cannot insulate him from the real-world consequences of such reckless political grandstanding.

Market analysts were quick to sound the alarm. Dan Ives, from Wedbush Securities, told The Guardian bluntly: “Very simply, Musk diving deeper into politics and now trying to take on the Beltway establishment is exactly the opposite direction that Tesla investors/shareholders want him to take during this crucial period for the Tesla story.” Ivana Delevska, founder of Spear Invest, echoed similar concerns, highlighting the “significant risks” Musk’s political distractions now pose to Tesla shareholders.

The political motives behind Musk’s move are transparent. After Trump appointed Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, tensions simmered, eventually boiling over with the president’s ambitious spending bill. Musk openly criticized Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, labeling it “political suicide” due to its projected $3 trillion increase in the U.S. deficit and rollback of incentives favorable to Tesla and other EV manufacturers. Trump’s response was sharp and immediate, posting on Truth Social: “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.”

Conservatives must view this split clearly: Musk’s “America Party” is not about saving America—it’s about saving Musk. The billionaire entrepreneur, long admired by many on the right for his innovation and boldness, has allowed personal ambition and ego to cloud his judgment. At a time when our movement is effectively pushing forward with America First priorities—securing our border, reviving American manufacturing, reforming trade, overhauling our education system, and finally ending endless foreign wars—Musk’s vanity project risks splintering conservative unity and diverting attention away from President Trump’s historic agenda.

Let us remember: President Trump has successfully navigated America through countless challenges, from revitalizing the economy to reshoring American jobs, and putting our nation’s interests first on the global stage. His firm, unyielding stance has brought real results for everyday Americans. Musk’s sudden entry into politics threatens to undermine these victories by dividing resources, attention, and most importantly, votes.

Investors clearly understand the gravity of Musk’s misstep. Jed Dorsheimer, an analyst with William Blair, explicitly warned in a note cited by Axios: “We expect that investors are growing tired of the distraction at a point when the business needs Musk’s attention the most and only see downside from his dip back into politics.” If Wall Street investors can see Musk’s political venture as a distraction, conservatives should recognize it as an outright threat to our hard-won gains.

Conservatives must remain vigilant against such distractions. We cannot afford to splinter into factions just as America is finally reclaiming her strength and pride. The stakes are too high, the challenges too critical. Musk’s America Party may grab headlines today, but conservatives must ensure that it does not derail President Trump’s vision and our movement’s momentum. America First is more than a slogan; it is our guiding principle. Musk would be wise to remember that.
