New DeSantis vs Trump Poll Is Jaw-Dropping

In a hypothetical Republican primary battle among voters in New York State, former President Donald Trump has a clear advantage over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), according to a Siena College poll released on Monday.

Trump received 52% of the vote, DeSantis received 27%, and 18% voted for someone else. Trump led DeSantis by 25 points overall.

Notably, the poll revealed that Trump has a larger edge over DeSantis among working-class voters. Trump received support from 58% of those earning $50,000 to $100,000. Only 26% supported the governor. Trump’s margin among those earning less than $50,000 has grown to 38 points. (54-16 percent).

Trump’s lead among those earning more than $100,000 began to shrink to five points. (42-37 percent).

While DeSantis performed better among white-collar Republicans, polling showed he also performed better among moderate Republicans, but Trump maintained a significant margin, (40-24 percent). Trump has a significant 54-30 percent edge among conservative Republicans.

“New York is undoubtedly Trump Country for New York Republicans,” House Republican Conference chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) told Breitbart News of the poll’s findings. “We are proud to support Trump in his bid to win the Republican primary in New York in 2024 and the general election across America in 2024.”

From March 19 to 22, 802 New York State registered voters were polled, with a 4.6-point margin of error.

The poll comes as DeSantis has began to engage in back-and-forth with Trump. Last week, in an interview with Piers Morgan, DeSantis provided the clearest indication yet of his ambitions for 2024: “I have exactly what it requires to be president, and I can beat Biden.”

DeSantis joked regarding one of Trump’s nicknames for him while underlining his inability to speak about suspected hush money payments.

“I’m not sure how to spell the ‘Sanctimonious one,'” he said. “I’m not sure what it means, but I kind of like it. It’s lengthy. There are a lot of vowels in it. That’s OK; we’ll go with it.”

Some pollsters think DeSantis made a mistake by responding to Trump’s comments. According to Mark Meckler, president of the Convention of States, recent polling supports that analysis.

“I thought taking a shot at Donald Trump here showed weakness,” Meckler said. “What’s been helping DeSantis has kind of been simply ignoring the assaults from Trump, and I believe you could have shown true leadership by just launching an aggressive attack on the prosecution, not even mentioning Donald Trump. I understand why it’s probably frustrating for him on a personal level, but I do not believe it was a good political decision, and surveys suggest that it was clearly not a good political one.”

  1. TRUMP AND DE SANTIS SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND MAKE A GREAT TEAM. STOP ALL THIS INFIGHTING ,IF THEY REALLY CARED ABOUT THE COUNTRY THAT BIDEN DESTROYED, THEY WOULD WORK TOGETHER AND FIX EVERYTHING TOGETHER. THIS COUNTRY COULD USE A TRUMP DE SANTIS TEAM TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER. IT WILL TAKE BOTH OF THEM TO FIX WHAT BIDEN DESTROYED. SO MAN UP, PUT ASIDE YOUR PETTY DISPUTES AND THINK OF AMERICA ONLY. FIX THE ECONOMY, BORDER, DEPORT 6 MILLION ILLEGALS THAT CAME IN UNDER BIDEN, RESTORE LAW AND ORDER, TAKE CARE OF THE CORRUPT SCHOOL BOARD. TAKE CARE OF THE GENDER IDEOLOGY THAT IS RUINING OUR CHILDREN, NO MORE DRAG QUEENS.THERE IS SO MUCH DESTROYED UNDER BIDEN. WE NEED TO BECOME SUPER POWER AGAIN. TAKE CARE OF THE UKRAINE, RUSSIA, IRAN, CHINA,HELP ISRAEL. IT GOES ON AND ON, IT WILL TAKE TWO STRONG ITELLIGENT USA LOVING PATRIOTS, TO FIX IT ALL AGAIN.

      1. Trump with DeSantis as VEEP plus 8 more years with DeSantis as Prez gives us 12 years to fix what the last two Dem administrations have messed up. That’s about right.

      2. Very much agree and if Trump should need to step down no worries.DeSantis is young and go up to VP and get ready for your future as President. Let your kids grow up a little.

    1. Very well stated. Great idea that can really work to reverse all that Biden has changed.
Let’s fight to keep America’s greatness necoming better and stronger.

    2. AGREE 100% THE ARE A BOMB THAT CAN TEAR THE DEMOCRATE UP. SURE HOPE THEY DO GET TOGETHER. WE WOULD HAVE AMERICA BACK IN HALF THE TIME.

    3. I guess Emma is a stand-up comedian. If they really cared about our country. That is a good one! Thanks for making us all laugh!

  2. The media and GOP ‘assassins’ are injecting, he said, she said bits of antagonistic messages to Trump, DeSantis and the general public for the purpose of fomenting distrust and division between the leading candidates and their constituents. This is a standard ploy of the D’s with the aid of the media to create dissent and hopefully fracture the GOP voters into smaller factions vulnerable to the sheep like masses of the Democrats. Trump and DeSantis need to come to a understanding on who should take the lead and support one another. The wisest thing to do is to let Trump take his wrecking ball and restructure the government into a ‘For the People’ administration and have DeSantis take over later for a more ‘politically correct’ government. Trump has already demonstrated in his term that he can bring proper order internally and internationally. Biden & Family corrupt influence peddling business needs to be reined in as he is ruining this country for the sake of money grubbing sell outs.

  3. Trump and DeSantis would make a great team!!!! Trump being President for 4 years and then DeSantis ! For the good of the country!!!!!!Please put your arguments aside.

  4. Trump for President and DeSantis as Vice President would give hope back to this country. President Trump has learned how the Democrats come at him falsly accusing him at every turn. DeSantis would be a great President to follow up MAGA.
