It really has been one year since Donald Trump took the presidency from perhaps the worst Democrat party candidate to ever exist, Hillary Clinton.
There could perhaps be no worse candidate unless Chelsea decided to run. Chelsea held a job in the mainstream media for about two days before they quietly shooed her to the back. She’s also had massive plastic surgery – possibly for a run at the presidency after Hillary dies and leaves her fully with the legacy of being a loser.
So, that’s all about the Clinton family one year after Trump won – how is Trump doing? Depending on which conservative you ask, you will get a different answer.
Trump was never seen as a reliable conservative, and he was seen as a risky bet by mainstream Republicans. The initial take on Trump as a candidate, much less the president, was never a serious consideration for them – until he won. After that, the establishment had to switch very quickly to a new brand – an unapologetic, in your face type of politics that really wasn’t politics at all. Needless to say, the establishment didn’t like this very much.
A new brand of conservative found power through the internet and in the centralization of political power in previously unorganized rural areas. These were the people who believed in Trump originally and are currently the more likely to conclude that his actions so far have been successful. However, there is one way to kick past all of the nonsense between these warring factions and get to the bottom of success and failure in the Trump era.
Here’s the bottom line – did President Trump do what candidate Trump said he was going to do?
The short answer is a very simple yes. The president got a strong tax plan through in his first year. He also did a great deal to reverse the worst parts of Obamacare, giving states more power than ever to support their own insurance marketplaces. Trump also increased monies and power to the military, effectively reversing the embargo that Obama placed on the American military. We are almost back to the level of strength that we enjoyed in the Reagan era, at a time that is incredibly important.
Whether you like him or not, President Trump has governed as a conservative. Money goes to the right places. The American relationship with Israel is defended. American money does not go to countries that do not pay us back. Resources are consolidated, borders are closed. Citizens have more opportunities for jobs, and domestic production is up around the board.
President Trump has done this in a way that no other president before him has tried – direct communication with the conservative base. Bypassing the media and going straight to Twitter was a genius move. Regardless of what the mainstream media chooses to report, Trump’s true feelings and actions can be found on his Twitter feed.
Mainstream conservatives are actually coming around to Trump’s positions on issues, because Trump’s positions are actually their positions anyway. The real problem is ego, and yes, Trump has plenty of that to go around. Conservatives who based their careers on being loudmouths have honestly been swallowed up in the era of Trump, who has shown that you had better back up tough talk with action. The American people no longer listen if you do not.
President Trump has moved conservative politics into the 21st century. It is really a shame that no other Republican candidate took any cues from the Obama administration. Despite Obama’s crazy policies, his method of getting elected was ahead of its time. The internet is an extraordinary tool for reaching the American public, and if he did nothing else, Obama used it.
The next candidate to properly use this tool was candidate Trump.
For these efforts, it is fairly simple to give President Trump high marks for his performance in year one. He is also setting himself up for a stellar performance in subsequent years. This is a president who des not mind saying “you’re fired” if you are not getting the job done. The bottom line is this – the Trump administration is the most efficient administration in decades on either side of the political spectrum, and everyone knows it.
