These Republican States DENY Pandemic Unemployment Coverage

In the first week of May, Montana became the first state to cancel unemployment payments as a means of helping people weather the pandemic lockdowns. Two weeks later, eight more Republican-led states followed suit. The move has left many in the lurch as businesses destroyed by the lockdowns are not expected to return.

Indeed, the poverty that has been created by the response to the pandemic has been worse than the disease itself. With people losing their homes, refrigerators going bare, divorces on the rise, and suicide reaching peak levels – many have had little other than stimulus checks to keep their heads above water.

Their reason for cutting off the stimulus is both clear and sound. The predictable result of this massive printing off of fiat currency has been a rapid decline in the value of the dollar. The price of food has gone up, and the price of gas has been driven up both by Joe Biden’s new military actions as well as by the devaluation of the dollar. The price of a gallon of gas has gone up to over $3 a gallon in some locations.

As the Wall Street Journal puts it, at least nine Republican states have canceled enhanced Covid-19 unemployment benefits which added up to $300 a week for those who qualified. The governors who took this action say that the extra stimulus incentivized the recipients to forgo looking for other work.

This, of course, is only a partial description of these governor’s true reasoning. Montana’s governor said that the move was based on a desire to avoid levels of inflation not seen since the 1970s when people lined up for blocks just to buy one gallon of gas.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said, “Federal unemployment benefit programs related to pandemic relief provided Iowans with important assistance, initially. But now that businesses and schools are reopened, these payments are discouraging people from returning to work.”

But the moral issue here is complex. For a start, state governments rolled out unconstitutional mandates that have cost people their livelihoods. The least they could do is pay them back in the form of money taken via unconstitutional tax laws. If the Founders were here, they would be priming their muskets.

First, your local government steals your money in the form of payroll taxes, something that did not exist before World War I. Then they put you out of work over-inflated pandemic statistics. Then, to add insult to injury, they stop giving you back small amounts of those unlawfully extracted tax dollars.

Of course, it must be noted that those unlawfully extracted dollars have already been spent. It is for that reason more money must be printed off to assuage the fears of an out-of-work population.

The mainstream media will not report on the predictable fallout from this, but we will. Until then, perhaps we can take some comfort in knowing that the rocket-ship of inflation has lost one of its tertiary thrusters.

  1. Where are the Supreme Court rulings that the States’ actions were “unconstitutional”? I’ve studied the Constitution and it’s related Supreme Court judgements for fifty years, and do not suddenly come to the conclusion that the orders for lockdowns, masks, etc., etc., etc, violated that document. Apparently, the high courts in this once-great nation agree with me. As far as “stealing money” in the form of payroll taxes, there are laws in place that make all of that legal. That all being said, it has been obvious since the 26th Amendment was ratified that our government only cares about corporations and the wealthy, who are least affected by inflation. We have been in a deficit economy that whole time, with a growing national debt, while the wealthy have seen their holdings grow over five-fold in value. This destruction of the working class Americans has been going on regardless of which major Party held the reins, because neither Party is truly a Party of the People, unless the People are very wealthy. We need to put a third Party in place that actually cares about the voters. Unfortunately, until we can get rid of the die-hard Democrats and Republicans, who only vote for Parties, and not candidates, this will not happen.

    1. “Legalized” government theft of money and property from legal citizens is still theft.

    2. You don’t understand that money makes money. If you did and elevated yourself to a higher class, you wouldbe celebrating and not complaining.

  2. There are around 8 million “unfilled” job openings in the USA and with the BiteMe $300 a week kicker folks don’t want to work. This is the simplest and most effective way to encourage “Personal Responsibility”; i.e., get a job.

A husband and wife drawing Unemployment could be grossing around a thousand dollars a week, eliminating $600 a week would be incentive to get a job.

    1. Vote buying by the democrats is well underway. Expect the “pandemic” to last until November 2022 with many stimulus checks until then.

    1. i agree on that ive drawed unemployment before and folks that wont last forever when its out its out and its time for people to stop living their lifes in fear and get back to work and stop buying out lumber my job has worked as much as 7 days a week i work at a lumber treating plant and weve worked 60-84 hours a week for 9 months we are all tired exhausted and list goes on and the price of lumber has gone up 200% and thatd tell me not to buy it

  3. Exactly what needs to be done start telling people to support themselves. Because that extra 1,200 dollars plus their regular unemployment is not supposed to be given once the job market is opened back up. The people need to get back to work. What ever happened to pride and dignity?? I worked all my life and earned my living until I became disabled due to a work injury. This generation knows only how to expect government handouts which is really very sad

  4. This is how socialism gets started. Give (not really free) free stuff to people to hold them over till the emergency ends, next, they get used to it & expect to keep getting it. Now you got nothing but leaches sucking up everything they can, next , the country turns into a third world shithole, just like Trump said about shithole third world countries are like. But the Democrats want this to happen.
Personally I think it’s time for another revolution.
    NO MERCY…!

    1. I absolutely agree. If we don’t fight for freedom no one will. This government is committing treason and fraud. The American people must rise up and fight again. We can’t let our great country go down.

    2. We can only vote the trash out. Let’s hope the intelligence level rises by November 2022.

  5. Were are the Patriot Generals, who liberated many countries of the world, but can’t stand for America? We need to clean the weapons dust, This nation is up side down , how much longer ?????????????????????????????/????????????????
    This is my opinion.

  6. Agreed.
To Arms America. This is a real take over of freedom.
The feds are soon gonna run out of our money then see how well socialism works for you.
Look at how well it worked for other countries.

  7. We can only vote the trash out. Let’s hope the intelligence level rises by November 2022.

  8. So i am curious — where is the list of states as mentioned in the title? I see a couple mentioned with a lot of discussion, but i am disappointed that the title is a misnomer… which, unfortunately seems to happen more and more often – there seems to be no “just the facts, ma’am” reporting ANYWHERE anymore.

  9. The scumbags need to stop sucking the welfare teet, & pull their lazy asses up by their boot straps & go to work. There never was a pandemic. The scamdemic was to make hard working American tax payers into sheep. Those with no self pride or work ethic sold their souls to the devil (government). Pathetic scumbags. What a disgrace & embarrassment to the Real hard working tax paying Americans.
