Video: Trump Hilariously Teases Macron At Davos

Donald Trump went to Davos and did what Donald Trump does—mixed brutal honesty with entertainment in a way that left European leaders laughing nervously while absorbing body blows to their egos.

Emmanuel Macron was the main target. And he had it coming.

The French president showed up wearing sunglasses indoors—officially blamed on a burst blood vessel, though everyone was speculating about other explanations. Trump noticed.

Then there was Macron’s tariff flip-flop. France had been loudly opposing Trump’s trade policies until suddenly they weren’t. Trump recounted the conversion with theatrical glee: “‘No, no, Donald, I will do it!’ TOOK ME 3 MINUTES!”

Three minutes to reverse a French policy position. That’s either masterful negotiation or an embarrassing display of how little conviction European leaders actually have. Probably both.

The Windmill Sermon

But Trump’s real point wasn’t personal mockery—it was the suicidal economic policies Europe keeps embracing.

“Windmills all over Europe, all over the place, and they are LOSERS,” Trump declared. “One thing I’ve learned: the more windmills a country has, the more money that country LOSES.”

Then the kicker: “CHINA makes almost all the windmills, and yet I haven’t been able to find any wind farms in China!”

Let that sink in. Europe is destroying its industrial base, raising energy costs, and making itself dependent on unreliable power—all while buying the equipment from China. Meanwhile, China builds coal plants and laughs all the way to the bank.

It’s the German-Russian oil story all over again. Back in 2018, Trump scolded Germany for buying Russian energy while expecting America to protect them from Russia. Everyone called him unsophisticated. Then Russia invaded Ukraine and suddenly German energy policy looked catastrophically stupid.

Now it’s China. Macron was at Davos talking about wanting more Chinese investment in Europe. More dependency on a hostile power. More leverage handed to Beijing.

The Diego Garcia Disaster

Trump’s frustration with European self-destruction extends to Britain’s insane plan to give away the Chagos Islands—home to Diego Garcia, one of the most strategically important military bases in the world.

The UK isn’t just surrendering territory. They’re going to pay Mauritius for the privilege of renting their own base back. Mauritius, which is under heavy Chinese influence. The base whose primary purpose is helping contain China.

How exactly does that work once Mauritius decides—at Beijing’s suggestion—that they don’t want to honor the lease anymore?

Senator John Kennedy and Trump have both excoriated this move. It’s not just stupid British policy; it directly threatens American national security.

The Pattern

This is what Trump keeps running into with European “allies.” They make decisions that hurt themselves and hurt us, then expect America to clean up the mess.

Germany got dependent on Russian energy. Britain is surrendering strategic territory to Chinese influence. France wants more CCP investment. The whole continent embraced green energy policies that enriched China while impoverishing their own citizens.

And when things go wrong—when Russia invades, when China expands, when energy prices spike—they turn to America for protection.

Trump’s message at Davos was simple: stop doing stupid things. Stop cozying up to adversaries. Stop making yourselves weak while expecting us to keep you strong.

The Greenland Connection

All of this connects to why Trump wants Greenland. Denmark has controlled it for centuries without adequately defending or developing it. Now Arctic competition with Russia and China makes that neglect strategically dangerous.

If Europe can’t be trusted to protect its own territories—if Britain will give away Diego Garcia, if NATO allies won’t fund their militaries, if everyone keeps making deals with Beijing—then America has to act directly.

Reports suggest a framework for a Greenland deal is emerging. Trump may drop the European tariffs in exchange for what he actually wants: security guarantees and access rights that ensure the Arctic doesn’t become another arena where Western weakness invites adversary expansion.

Full Trump Mode

Trump teasing Macron about his sunglasses and his three-minute policy reversal was funny. The crowd laughed. Social media had fun with it.

But underneath the entertainment was a serious message: your choices have consequences. Your weakness becomes our problem. Your deals with China and Russia undermine the alliance you depend on.

Stop self-immolating. Or don’t be surprised when America stops pretending your opinions matter.
