New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be single-handedly responsible for the phrase “kids in cages” being as popular as it is. So, it’s easy to see why she gets so frustrated when the phrase is used to criticize her and the Biden Administration.
When former President Donald Trump was in office, border authorities abandoned the disastrous “catch and release” policy of the Obama years, and actually detained the lawbreakers crossing the border. Quick side note: by definition, everyone who crosses the border illegally is a criminal — because it’s illegal.
Due to human trafficking concerns, many migrant children were separated from the adults they were traveling with. In many cases, these individuals turn out to be using the children to leverage themselves into amnesty. It’s a difficult decision to make, to be sure, but Trump Administration officials felt it was worth taking.
When a socialist bartender became a Congresswoman in 2018, she made this one of her signature issues. AOC famously traveled to a border facility for what was nothing less than a photo-op to show her rabid followers how sad she was about “kids is cages.” Now, it turned out that she was actually standing in the parking lot, but whatever.
Joe Biden ascended into the White House largely on the promise that he was going to make it easier for migrants to come into the border. To the surprise of absolutely no one, this led to a flood of illegal immigration — which means more kids in cages. Curiously, AOC has changed her tune about the issue.
Apparently, she gets really frustrated when you ask her about it. See for yourself in the video below.
