We’re not sure if any of them are aware of this yet, but progressives really do make life much harder for themselves than they need to. Sure, they can push for wacky socialist utopian nonsense, and that’s what we expect them to do, but do they really need to do that while trying to change the English language in the process?
Watching the likes of New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez try (and fail) to drop the word mother in favor of the more PC-approved “birthing people” in the clips below is almost painful. To be fair, it’s also kind of hilarious because she dug this hole for herself and deserves to fall in it. But still, it’s hard not to feel embarrassed for her at the same time.
Let’s take a step back for a minute. Those of us who have been around for more than a few decades have seen the cultural left change our language several times. We’ve come to the point where the language of the left from just a few decades ago is seen as reactionary and racist by progressives today. From this, we can easily infer that words like “birthing people” will fall into that category eventually.
What about trans men that are going through menopause? What about adoptive mothers that can’t give birth? Why are you excluding these people, AOC? Clearly you hate them and want them to die…or something.
We’re really not good at the whole cry-bullying thing. It’s really a leftist art form…
Advocating for dumb socialist policies is one thing, but there is something truly sinister about trying to undermine an entire language — and discredit the very definitions of words that once enjoyed a universal understanding. It cripples our ability to even have discussions with one another. It makes understanding one another impossible. But when you watch AOC and her wacky friends indulge in this behavior, it’s hard to see this confusion as anything other than deliberate. Their entire plan is to confuse and anger us.
