On Monday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg suggested that there are too many white individuals working in construction, just under two weeks after a deadly chemical train disaster on the Ohio-Pennsylvania line.
Buttigieg opted to urge delegates at the National Association of Counties Conference on Monday to “truly engage with organized labor, to work with your local colleges on holding a workforce that will reflect the community, to work with your contractors.”
He said: “We have all heard of way too many stories from decades past of infrastructure where you had a community — often a neighborhood of color that finally has the project come to their town — but everyone in hard hats working on that project looks, you know, doing the decent paying jobs, they don’t seem like they came from the area.” He was basically saying that there are too many construction workers that are white.
“You can develop community wealth that will help address wealth gaps in our nation if we can knock down those barriers,” he says, adding, “but that happens at the delivery level.”
Buttigieg’s words came more than a week after a train carrying dangerous chemicals derailed in Ohio, forcing residents of East Palestine to temporarily relocate. While they were given the all-clear a few days later, new data published this week revealed that the event contained more dangerous substances than was previously known, at least publicly.
According to the NBC News list, ethylhexyl acrylate, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, and isobutylene were among the compounds found in the wrecked rail wagons.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that the carcinogen ethylhexyl acrylate can burn and irritate the skin, eyes, and nose upon contact, and that inhalation can irritate the nose and throat, resulting in shortness of breath and coughing.
Since the controlled burn was completed, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported Monday evening that it has not discovered any worrying amounts of contaminants in the air quality that may be ascribed to the accident.
Buttigieg issued a statement on the event Monday evening, saying he is “concerned” and promised to investigate and hold those involved accountable.
Money needs to go to “Infrastructure” instead of going to “Biden-Harris DemoRat’s Pork Belly Projects.” Even though they tell everyone that a money is going to fund infrastructure, the money delegated has only a small portion going to infrastructure. Railroads – HAH – They claim that they need more and more money in order to keep the railroads running safely so they jack up the fees to passengers. Result … excess fee money does not go to fix or maintain the railroad and railroad’s start begging the Government for money in order to keep the country running. Such a scam !!!
The old saying is that as the top management person , you should not hire someone under you that is smarter than you are. In spite of a very low standard for intelligence ,the Biden administration has managed this task .
Buttigieg has once again demonstrated his complete incompetence ,and stupidity by simply assuming that any location in the USA has the workers with the skill set to perform all the tasks from cement work to electrical ,plumbing , brick laying, carpentry , metal work etc.
Any tradesman can tell you it takes years to perfect their trade. Opps, I misspoke I should has said any sperm donor, egg donor ,or whatever convoluted name the libs want to use today, take years to learn their trade.
Point is the Biden administration has an over abundance of incompetent people, who think they are smart, but demonstrate their stupidity time and again.
