Huckabee: Hamas’s Future in Gaza is a Nonstarter

Mike Huckabee has boldly declared that Hamas deserves no role whatsoever in Gaza’s future, likening any scenario where the terrorist group remains in power to allowing Nazis to help rebuild Germany following World War II. It’s a stark comparison, one that vividly illustrates the moral clarity we need right now in confronting radical Islamic terror. Huckabee, acting decisively as our U.S. Ambassador to Israel, has laid down the marker that Hamas must be dismantled fully and permanently. Anything less would be nothing short of appeasement.

Speaking candidly with i24 News, Huckabee expressed cautious optimism about the progress in hostage negotiations, tempered by Hamas’s repeated sabotage of efforts to bring American and Israeli hostages safely home. “We felt for many months now that we’ve been close, but Hamas is always the one that gums it up just when we think we’re on the brink of getting all of the hostages back,” Huckabee explained. “Anything that gets all the hostages returned is a positive step.” It’s essential we recognize clearly: Hamas is not an organization seeking peace or stability. It is a violent extremist group bent on chaos, terror, and the destruction of our vital ally Israel.

With President Trump set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week in Washington, the hostage crisis remains the top priority. Huckabee highlighted the President’s unwavering stance on this front, stating unequivocally, “President Trump has been very clear that Hamas has no future in Gaza.” The Ambassador’s analogy was especially powerful: allowing Hamas to retain power would be as absurd and morally bankrupt as permitting Nazis to help govern postwar Germany. “That idea is not a sensible approach by any measure,” Huckabee rightly stressed.

The Ambassador’s message couldn’t be clearer: Hamas must be decisively defeated, stripped of its power, its weaponry, and its ability to terrorize innocent lives. “Ending it is not the hard part,” Huckabee emphasized. “The hard part is ending it so that Hamas is removed from their power, their strength, and their ability to hold hostages and to torture them.” This is not merely rhetoric—this is a clear-eyed assessment of what it will take to guarantee lasting peace and security for Israel and the Middle East.

As conservatives and patriots, we must support our President’s commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel, respecting their sovereignty, and letting them lead their own defense. Huckabee affirmed this stance clearly, arguing it’s not America’s role to micromanage our closest ally. “It’s not appropriate for the U.S. to try to tell the Israelis what they should or should not do,” Huckabee explained. “We respect the sovereignty of the state of Israel… it’s one of the reasons the partnership works so very well.” This straightforward respect for national sovereignty is precisely why the Trump administration has restored America’s credibility on the global stage.

Moreover, Huckabee masterfully underscored the unique and powerful bond between our two nations. “The United States, we have friends, we have allies, but we really only have one partner,” he remarked. “The partnership between Israel and the United States is quite unique, and the depth of it is extraordinary.” Indeed, this unique partnership is a cornerstone of American foreign policy, and it’s precisely why President Trump’s administration has been so successful in strengthening our alliance.

Turning to the threat posed by Iran, Huckabee reiterated President Trump’s firm position: Tehran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. “The Israelis and the Americans, even the Europeans have said Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon,” he said. The Trump administration’s clear and decisive military actions have sent an unmistakable message to Tehran’s radical regime: aggression will not be tolerated, and nuclear ambitions will be decisively thwarted.

Finally, Huckabee expressed optimism about the groundbreaking Abraham Accords, which President Trump spearheaded to forge unprecedented peace agreements between Israel and neighboring Arab states. Calling the Accords a blueprint for lasting regional peace, Huckabee asserted, “The ability to expand upon them and bring other countries in is truly something that I think will catch people in a way that will leave them breathless.” With steadfast leadership from President Trump and allies like Huckabee, America is once again leading from strength, setting the agenda, and defending freedom around the globe.
