Libs Went Too Far? Even CNN Is Worried About MAGA 2024

Elie Honig, a columnist for NY Magazine and senior legal commentator for CNN, attacked Democrats for attempting to keep former president Trump off the ballot, claiming that the measure was “doomed to fail” from the beginning and would only benefit him going forward.

On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that Colorado could not use Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to take former President Donald Trump off the primary ballot. There was a 9-0 decision.

According to Honig, the idea that Trump may be removed is only a “crazy law-school hypothetical that burst to life,” and it will now give Trump “fuel for his attempt to win back the White House.”

He went on:

“It’s okay if you were hoping for a different outcome. Ultimately, months have passed during which prominent constitutional experts have confidently assured us that Colorado’s use of the 14th Amendment to challenge Trump is legally “unassailable in all respects”; this from a retired judge who reassured us that we need not worry because “I havebeen studying this particular question in great detail for the previous three years.” Thus, you know, I see myself as an authority on the subject. Other intellectuals responded with a chorus of “yes,” calling any argument that the 14th Amendment would not be effective “very weak” or “simply total rubbish.” It appears that using exaggerated, conclusive language is ineffective for smashing the Constitution to pieces.”

Honig pointed out that there have been several earlier instances in which lawfare advocates attempted to use the 14th Amendment to keep Trump out of office, but all of those efforts were unsuccessful.

“Although the judges disagreed slightly over the precise grounds for disqualifying a federal candidate in the future, the overall decision was a sharp, clear rejection of the state-by-state methodology,” he stated. “Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan seldom agree, but the 14th Amendment challenges were so blatantly defective that they ultimately led to a cross-ideological accord.”

He continued, saying:

“It’s not up to the states without an explicit authorizing act of Congress, as the Supreme Court has now made clear on the face of the Constitution itself. There was no need for this to be a mystery. The clear wording of the Fourteenth Amendment states it all: “The Congress shall have the ability to enforce, by appropriate laws, the provisions of this article ” Congress might have introduced legislation at any time after the 14th Amendment’s passage in 1868 that essentially said, “We’ll let the states decide, as long as they utilize generally fair methods.” But more than 150 years have passed, and Congress has not taken any such action. The Fourteenth Amendment will continue to be a nonfunctional, dusty curiosity until and until that changes.”

The failed attempt to remove Trump from election ballots cost many “resources and political capital,” he continued, and “his supporters surely will support a failed effort by a bunch of elitist types to use the courts to stop the American voters from having a choice and to take out the GOP front-runner.”

He said, “This is one of Donald’s special political gifts: He incites his opponents to self-destruct by inspiring such deep anger in them.”

  1. Oh no Mr. Honig! Trump does not “inspire such deep anger in them”, at all. It’s the constant negative propaganda that does the hate-mongering. So you see that the corruption of Democrats and Rinos ‘made’ Trump and now they have destroyed themselves.

  2. The Marxist/Democrat party is the biggest terrorist group to We The People as the civil servants who swore an oath to 1 protect our boarders, 2 protect we the people and 3 to protect our wealth and they are DOING none of the above and as a matter of fact the are ( like thieves) stealing our money and GIVING it to illigals! Now we have the Govnor of NY and Colorado are taking funds from schools ,parks and other paid taxpayer things and giving it to illigals because the are running out of places to steal money to their distruction of this country. Why? Because you who say you care more about your children and grandchildren really only care about yourselves or you would be banding together now and doing something about those thieves who are stealing from you and your children’s future!

    1. The Americans with common sense see through the liberal hate mongering
I just hope they go to the polls
