Pope Francis is Helping the Left Politicize the Pandemic

Pope Francis appears to have joined the ranks of left-wing extremists as he recently politicized the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming it a punishment for climate change.

The Old Testament speaks of 10 plagues in Exodus 9 that are penalties for Pharaoh not releasing the Israelites. Now the Vatican wants Catholics to believe the COVID-19 scourge is basically because thinking people remain skeptical about falsified climate data, end-of-days prophesies by the likes of New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and an Al Gore movie that has been thoroughly discredited. Those might be “inconvenient truths” for the 83-year-old pontiff, but he is still claiming the pandemic is “nature’s” retribution.

“There is an expression in Spanish: ‘God always forgives, we forgive sometimes, but nature never forgives,’” Pope Francis reportedly said. “Who now speaks of the fires in Australia, or remembers that 18 months ago a boat could cross the North Pole because the glaciers had all melted? Who speaks now of the floods? I don’t know if these are the revenge of nature, but they are certainly nature’s responses.”

The Pope has long been a climate change crisis advocate who rarely, if ever, speaks to competing science. Last year, 500 European scientists petitioned the United Nations requesting a fair and open debate on the issue. These credible and experienced researchers stated that no climate emergency existed, and aggressive, politically-motivated policies were doing irreparable harm to the humans and the planet.

“Therefore, it is cruel as well as imprudent to advocate the squandering of trillions of dollars on the basis of results from such immature models. Current climate policies pointlessly and grievously undermine the economic system, putting lives at risk in countries denied access to affordable, reliable electrical energy. We urge you to follow a climate policy based on sound science, realistic economics, and genuine concern for those harmed by costly but unnecessary attempts at mitigation,” the petition stated.

Like the Pope, the U.N. turned a blind eye to this and other credible skepticism. And like the U.N., the Pope embraced climate kid Greta Thunberg rather than a scientific community who reach vastly different conclusions.

“You cannot find someone who really adores the Lord and transposes care for the environment and for others,” the Pope said. Thunberg’s “protest and her witness brings attention to the great need to be coherent in our care for the environment and also for the people who live on Earth.”

Level-headed leaders recognize that the Pope counts himself not among the ranks of concerned people, but the climate alarmists. Everyday people have already heard the apocalyptic prophies of Al Gore’s fictitious feature film that the polar caps would melt, seas would rise, and New York City would be underwater. But now Pope Francis is laying the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents on a political theory that swells left-wing budgets and puts coal miners out of work.

“Fires, earthquakes, nature is throwing a tantrum so that we will take care of her,” he said. “These are events that frighten us.”

What should frighten intelligent people everywhere is that a spiritual leader hitched his wagon to leftist politics, and blames COVID-19 on good people.
