The first select committee hearing to dismantle political weaponization within the federal government against political rivals will take place Thursday, according to House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, setting the stage for future investigations.
Stefanik, who was appointed to the “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government” alongside other notable members, stated that the event will set the stage for House Republicans to unearth, expose, and eliminate political bias within the federal government, which is frequently directed towards conservatives or America First Americans.
“This initial hearing will be essential in setting the framework to dismantle the federal government’s persistent political weaponization against the American people,” she added.
Stefanik promised that the select committee, which is chaired by Representative Jim Jordan, will tackle partisanship at the CIA, FBI and NIH, as well as corruption and abuse across the entrenched federal bureaucracy.
“As the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government gets underway this week, the FBI’s politicized censorship, violations of First Amendment rights and civil freedoms, and complete weaponization against American citizens will be exposed,” she stated.
“Accountability is coming,” she added, referencing her experience defending former President Donald Trump against impeachment.
She said, “Just as I presented the evidence during the phony impeachments of President Donald Trump, overcame Democrats’ biased process, and revealed the DOJ’s targeting of parents via my oversight questions, I will lead the fight to root out corruption in our federal agencies.”
Stefanik announced in January the “deep state” violations that the committee will probe over the the next two years.
“Take, for example, the FBI and the DOJ,” she said, adding:
“There is a lengthy list of illegal targeting and abuses, not only of high-profile Americans who just happen to be Republicans or conservatives, but of everyday Americans, whether it is the Mar-a-Lago raid, illegal spying on Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016, tampering with FISA documentation, or, most recently, the fact that one of Bob Mueller’s top FBI agents working on the special counsel was, at the time, the FBI director.”
Stefanik mentioned Charles McGonigal, who was special agent in charge of the FBI Counterintelligence Division in New York. The Justice Department charged McGonigal in January for money laundering and “agreeing to offer services” to Oleg Deripaska, a sanctioned Russian oligarch.
“These Federal agencies are ripe for more transparency and, eventually, changes, and this select committee will be one of many instruments we have in the majority to get to the facts and ensure Americans know the truth,” said Stefanik.
