The attorneys for former President Trump were denied permission to postpone a hearing on a requested protective order by the court overseeing special counsel Jack Smith’s presidential election of 2020 case against him.
Washington, D.C.-based U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan issued an order this week setting the hearing at 10 a.m. ET on Friday and lifting the requirement for the defendant to be present.
After obtaining a joint filing from Smith’s and President Trump’s teams in reply to Chutkan’s request that they choose two times before the last day of the week when they were going to be ready to be present for a legal hearing, the order was included a few hours later.
The government will be available “anytime” on the following days: Wednesday, Thursday, or even Friday, according to Smith’s team, but Donald Trump’s legal counsel requested that the hearing be put off due to schedule conflicts.
“President Trump won’t be there. However, he was hoping for both of his counsel, John Lauro along with Todd Blanche, to be present at the hearing,” their statement stated.
They said, “Todd Blanche isn’t accessible on Thursday as he must attend a court hearing in the protection made against the exact same defendant, President Donald Trump, by the Special Counsel for the Southern District of the state of Florida. On Thursday, Mr. Lauro will be free and he prefers an afternoon time slot. In order to accommodate both Mr. Blanche’s as well as Mr. Lauro’s attendance, we humbly need a setting for Monday (after 12:00 p.m.) or even Tuesday (through the entire day), as we have lost Friday as being an option.”
The declaration that Friday was considered “lost” as a possibility was left unexplained in the joint submission. On Tuesday, The Daily Wire contacted Trump’s attorneys to get a response to the judge’s ruling.
One day after Trump’s arrest in Washington, D.C., the Smith campaign requested a protection order this past week shortly after the former president said on Truth Social using capital letters, “In the event that you go after me, I am coming right after you!”
Prosecutors stated they wanted a number of restrictions designed to avoid the disclosure of confidential evidence and noted that they intended to furnish the defense with discovery content “as soon as we can.” They also cautioned that Trump disclosing certain details publicly could “have an unfavorable chilling impact on witnesses or negatively impact the impartial handling of justice during this case.”
After Chutkan rejected their application for a deadline postponement beyond the weekend, Trump’s attorneys gave their response to Smith’s suggested order sometime before the deadline at 5 p.m. ET. The defense requested a protective order while showing worries about excessive interference with Trump’s First Amendment rights. Additionally, they requested that the issue be heard “at the earliest practicable date.”
Its most unfortunate that President Trump and his cohohorts are not being able to work properly!
It seems to me that others are not doing their jobs as they should and as a result, Present Trump is often not always able to do what he has to do!!!! Someone should be ensuring that all is well in the situation!

I think Trump is being treated unfairly , the court hearings need to be completely open to the public ,all of them so no matter what the media says we will know and see only the facts first hand concerning him , and what he’s being accused of , also it will work on the other side of the fence concerning Joe Biden and his family all made to the public , we don’t need media ,we need to see and hear all the facts or lies brought out in the open , if any of us including former president and now president have nothing to hide this should never be a problem.
