President Biden has joined TikTok, a Chinese app, in a bid to connect with younger people. The president posted his first video message on Sunday, with the remark, “lol hey guys.”
The first video published to the TikTok account of the Biden-Harris campaign, @bidenhq, shows President Biden fielding easy questions.
After being questioned by an assistant, “Niners or Chiefs?” Biden responds, “Two wonderful quarterbacks. It’s difficult to decide, but if I did not declare I support the Eagles, I would be spending the night alone. My wife is a Philadelphia girl.”
The aide then asked a question that seems to support the premise that pop sensation Taylor Swift’s friendship with Travis Kelce is a conspiracy to rig the NFL championship and help Biden win re-election in November.
“Deviously fixing the season so that the team would get to the Super Bowl, or that the team is a great team?” the staff member asks, to which Biden responds, “I’d be in deep trouble if I said anything.”
Following that, a photo of Biden with evil red laser eyes appears on the screen, alluding to the “Dark Brandon” internet meme that Biden’s campaign has chosen to promote.
“Dark Brandon” is the Joe Biden team’s attempt to go after conservatives by mixing the iconic “Let’s Go Brandon” internet meme with the term “Dark MAGA,” which MAGA supporters use when pushing former President Trump to have an even more daring campaign.
The “Dark Brandon” image also has eyes comprised of red eyes, a reference to yet another internet meme that apparently originated among Bitcoin supporters.
Biden’s TikTok video ends with an aide asking, “Biden or Trump?” The president laughs and says, “Are you kidding? Biden.”
The Biden-Harris campaign’s TikTok account follows the Chinese app’s restriction from most U.S. government computers since TikTok is viewed as a national security concern by lawmakers in both parties.
