FEMA Official Caught Living The High Life On Taxpayer Dime

According to DailyMail.com, individuals from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are sleeping at pricey luxury hotels in Maui that are “on the opposite side of the island” from the area’s recovery operations.

Officials from FEMA have recently been directed to Hawaii to help with rebuilding efforts after the deadly fires. According to the outlet, they are living in fancy Maui resorts with rates beginning at $1,000 per night.

At the same time, the flames have killed at least 114 people, burned down thousands of residences, and caused about $5 billion in damage. FEMA’s slow reaction to the disaster has been criticized by many, and now the agency’s choice of housing is making people even more angry.

According to the DailyMail.com, about 1,000 FEMA workers are living at four villas in Wailea on the money of taxpayers. Three of the island’s hotels, which include the Fairmont Kea Lani, the Four Seasons Resort, as well as the Grand Wailea Astoria, all have received five-star rankings and have hosted rich people and Hollywood stars in the past.

The state’s “only all-suite” hotel is the Fairmont Kea Lani. It has 780 rooms, each of which is at least 860 square feet, and has its own balcony. The Four Seasons is on 15 acres and has rooms that are 600 square feet and have a white water pool. The Grand Wailea has 776 rooms that start at 640 square feet and are spread out over 40 acres on Wailea Beach.

The outlet said that FEMA officials are staying at the Marriott Wailea Beach, which is a four-star hotel and costs $531 per night.

All four expensive hotels are about 45 minutes from the rescue site, which makes some people wonder why FEMA didn’t choose one of the numerous affordable and closer hotels on the western end of the island.

“Why don’t they stay more closely to the site rather than on the opposite side of the island?” asked Kaleo, a government worker who didn’t want his last name used because he was afraid of losing his job for speaking out. Kaleo said that the places FEMA chose to stay were “selfish.”

People in the area have also criticized the government agency for supposedly stopping volunteers from giving goods to people in need by saying that only FEMA-approved things can be given out.

The Biden government has approved $7 million in emergency funds to help people who have lost their homes find temporary places to stay. Those who survived the terrible fire will get one-time payments of $700 to buy things like clothes, food, and transportation that they lost in the fire.

  1. I’m retired power lineman. I’ve worked many ice storms , an tonatoro storms. For what they call rat contractors. Because we weren’t union. We never stayed further than we had to because we didn’t receive driving time

  2. Mr. Biden Administration is allowing this by all his Appointed Officials to get the best accomodations or perks while those in need of help get the Shit End of the Stick. All FEMA Officials and Mr. Biden should repay all those expensive from their high paychecks ASAP.

  3. FEMA IS A GOVERNMENT AGENCY that spends taxpayers money. I work long hours to pay taxes and have very little left over When I see my tax money go to cover the bills of Fema employees I explode in anger.
If they had to pay for the hotel, not the government, guess where they would stay. Motel 6 or any hotel close to the MAUI disaster. I have stayed at the above hotel, they included meals and great pool and very nice rooms. Motel 6 .. you get a bed and a shower and that’s it.

Do you really think they care if we do not like their extravagance ?

  4. I remember working out of town for contractors and we had a set subsistence to live on while out of town. Why is it that government employees can spend these large amounts of taxpayer money with no apparent limits?

  5. If the Natl guard is helping out, have them put some tents up for the fema officials. But that’d be mean, whats the sheriff in Arizona that has inmates in tents. He would come over n hook m right up. God bless America. FUC$ Joe Biden!!!
