France’s Yellow Vests Renew Protests Against President Macron

Fueled by rage over the billions pledged to rebuild the historic Notre Dame Cathedral, so-called “Yellow Vest” protestors tore France apart for a 23rd week demanding social justice reforms and an end to elitist President Emmanuel Macron’s rule.

Unlike the U.S. that tunes out to the over-the-top fake news, the French government controls the media and message heard by its citizens. That offensive Macron-controlled propaganda has not deterred citizens of the working class to organize behind a clear banner that elitists policies such as gas taxes prove detrimental to those in the rural areas. Following the heart-breaking blaze that engulfed Notre Dame, the French government and one-percenters that step over the paycheck-to-paycheck working poor in France pledged billions.

While their intentions to restore the iconic building may have been noble, the ease by which they bandied about billions cut to the heart of France’s grotesque economic disparity. More than 9,000 protestors wearing the symbolic Yellow Vest required to drive an automobile in France took to the streets with a burning rage of their own.

“These (protests) are very important for social justice. We have to help the poor, the disabled people, those who don’t have roofs to live under. It’s important to hold on,” Jean-Baptiste Redde said of the “Black Saturday” protests in Paris’ Republique Square. “Billions should also be given to the poor, to help the environment, to promote biodiversity. But Macron and this government only want to help the rich, so we can’t stop.”

The Yellow Vest leader held up a sign that read, “Millions for Notre Dame — and what about the poor?”

French government officials refuse to acknowledge the reality that their liberal policies are crushing low-income families. Pres. Macron has gleefully joined the ranks of EU elites such as Germany’s Angela Merkel and Americans such as ex-Pres. Obama, who crushed industries that didn’t fit their “save the world” from climate change narrative. The Macron Administration cannot even understand the perception problem it has by pledging billions to a physical structure while citizens live in poverty.

“It is a pointless debate,” Culture Minister Franck Riester reportedly said. “To say, ‘there’s too much money for Notre Dame and there is need elsewhere’ — of course, there is need elsewhere for healthcare, the fight against climate change. But Notre Dame is not only a collection of old stones. It’s a part of our identity.”

Although Macron may have thought his presidency was safe by aligning himself with other radical liberal extremist politicians, France has turned into a powder keg ready to explode into another French Revolution. Demonstrators hurled rocks and bottles at police instructed by the Macron Administration to quell the protests that have forced his regime to retreat on liberal policies paid for on the backs of working people.

“If they are able to give tens of millions to rebuild Notre Dame, then they should stop telling us that there is no money to counter social inequality,” the head of France’s CGT workers union Philippe Martinez reportedly said.

French Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner reportedly ordered upwards of 60,000 police officers to obstruct Yellow Vest demonstrators from protesting near Notre Dame or the Champs-Elysees. Previous massive protests have resulted in clashes with police, vandalism, and fires in the streets. The controlled media outlets in France have continually tried to discredit the Yellow Vests, and repeated an assault on the truth by twisting the message in the wake of the Notre Dame blaze.

“The rioters have not been visibly moved by what happened at Notre Dame,” Minister of the Interior Castaner reportedly said.

And the war of words has hit a new low in France. The Macron-strangled media outlets are using heated remarks hurled at police to turn public sentiment against the Yellow Vests. Apparently, protestors told the police to go kill themselves for doing Macron’s dirty work. Outlets such as France 24 have gone as far as to put on a CNN-like dog and pony show by publishing police suicide rates. Like America’s fake news media, the Agence France-Presse (AFP) has trolled out officials to amp up a few angry remarks into a campaign against the French rights activists.

“We have reached a convulsion of hatred. These words are intolerable and unacceptable,” French police union director Frédéric Lagache told the AFP. “It is an insult to all the police who have died, to their families and to the institution as a whole.”

While such remarks certainly indicate how fierce the clashes have become, everyday French citizens might want to ask their fake news media whether there was “Russian Collusion” as well. According to recent polls, upwards of 80 percent of French citizens support the Yellow Vest movement. France and other countries should expect increased populist opposition on the streets and in law-making halls until elites such as Macron are ousted.
