According to reports, comedian Larry David, who co-created Seinfeld and starred in Curb Your Enthusiasm, yelled at entrepreneur Elon Musk because of his Republican Party affiliation.
The event allegedly happened during the high-profile Saint-Tropez, France wedding of Hollywood entrepreneur Ari Emanuel this past year. David even presided over the wedding of Emanuel and fashion designer Sarah Staudinger. In his recently published biography, Elon Musk, writer Walter Isaacson notes that David “appeared to be fuming” throughout the interaction.
“Do you simply want to kill children in schools?” David allegedly asked Musk, alluding to the horrifying Uvalde, Texas, incident in which two instructors and nineteen students were killed.
David’s question seemed to “confuse” and “annoy” Musk.
Musk told David, “I’m against killing kids.”
“Then why did you vote for the Republicans?” David is said to have shot back.
David revealed the meeting to Isaacson and said that it happened because the millionaire had said that Democrats were causing division.
David said to Isaacson, “His remarks regarding voting Republican since Dems. were the party of hatred and division were really getting under my skin. Since I was upset and outraged, even if Uvalde had never occurred, I probably would’ve brought it up.”
MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough told Isaacson that he saw the meeting and “thought it was all pretty funny.”
“I told Ari that I didn’t like Elon very much, so he put me next to him,” Scarborough joked. “Elon didn’t say much.”
Breitbart News has said before that Larry David has a habit of getting angry in public at people who don’t agree with him. In 2021, for example, he yelled at Democrat Alan Dershowitz for supporting former President Trump during his impeachment cases. Dershowitz was a liberal Democrat.
“When David met Dershowitz in the store, the comic is said to have “screamed” at him about a picture he saw of the lawyer alongside former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
A person who talked to Page Six said that Dershowitz told David, “We are still able to talk, Larry,” in the store.
“No. No.” David replied, “We really can’t. Yes, I saw you. I saw you hugging Pompeo! It’s terrible!”
“He was one of my students at Harvard Law,” Dershowitz said. “That’s how I meet all of my old pupils. I can’t say hello to my old students?”
“It’s terrible. Your whole neighborhood is gross. “You’re a scumbag!” David yelled, so they say.
Larry David is a “knee-jerk radical,” Dershowitz later told Page Six.
“While he was making bad jokes, I was working to make peace in the Middle East. What did he do?” Alan Dershowitz pointed out. “Larry is a radical with no thought. He gets his ideas about politics from movies. He doesn’t do much reading. He doesn’t think about much.”
