The U.S. Supreme Court declared that it will consider the issue of presidential immunity and would postpone a criminal prosecution until after the election, handing former President Donald Trump a victory.
“Whether and if so, to what degree does a former president have presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for behavior claimed to entail official activities during his stay in office?” The court said that it would be considering.
Jack Smith, the special counsel, requested that the court refrain from postponing the trial in order to protect the public interest’s “unique national importance.”
The court will hear the case during the week of April 22.
The judgment would take months, even in the event that the Supreme Court finds against Trump. Many on the left interpreted the ruling as evidence that the nation’s highest court was involved in a massive plot to influence the election in favor of the outgoing president.
Chris Hayes, the host of MSNBC, was one of the loudest and most hysterical voices on the left. “A clear, obvious indication from the MAGA majority of the Trump-created court that they are with him,” he described the order as, that they want to use their influence to prevent him from being tried for trying to destroy American democracy during an election year.”
“Simply scary”
Slate writer Mark Joseph Smith wrote on social media, “What the Supreme Court did today is simply plain scary.” The justices are deliberately aiding and abetting Trump’s attempts to elude prosecution on January 6 by extending the clock. When given the option, the majority chose cynical political allegiance above independence.”
Rep. Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, said, “Trump’s purpose is to deny justice by delaying justice.” Sadly, the Justices appear content with the outcome. They had no justification for taking this matter on. When a president breaks the law in order to hold office, he is not exempt from prosecution. Not in a democratic setting.”
Columnist David Rothkopf stated, “Let’s not beat about the bush—the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the Trump immunity case is disgusting and, at its core, inherently rotten.” The choice to postpone hearing it until late April increases the likelihood of more major trial delays. They have no valid legal justification for their purposeful postponement of the trial. This is a political choice, and it’s not very nice in my opinion.”
“The Supreme Court ultimately made up its mind to rule on Trump’s presidential immunity after weeks of waiting. F*** UP THIS HIGH COURT. ENTRANCE THE COURT,” musician Dave Ryder retorted.
A Democrat at least attempted to spin the announcement in a positive light. Representative Ted Lieu, a Democrat from California, said that it would inspire Democrats to turn out the vote and unseat Trump.
“In my opinion, the Supreme Court’s decision to postpone the trial until after November will result in THE BIGGEST BLUE WAVE EVER,” Lieu said on Twitter. “Democrats will unquestionably flip the House, retain the White House, and grow the Senate if November turns into a vote on whether Trump faces punishment.”
NBC News described Trump’s declaration as a political and rhetorical success in addition to a legal one.
There will be no charges if the Supreme Court finds in favor of Trump’s immunity.

I think if Trump wins they will take out the immunity to get him out of office
and put Biden back in. They will try anything to get their way. But they know the people will not tolerate it. So, we will see.
