Pope Francis has once again inserted himself into U.S. politics, this time taking aim at President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans. But Trump’s supporters aren’t having it.
After the pontiff condemned Trump’s immigration policy in an open letter to U.S. Catholic bishops, calling it a “major crisis”, he faced a firestorm of backlash from conservatives who see him as out of touch and hypocritical.
Trump’s Border Chief to Pope: “Fix the Church, Leave the Border to Us”
Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar and a lifelong Catholic, fired back at Pope Francis for his criticism.
“I’m saying this as a lifelong Catholic, he ought to fix the Catholic Church and concentrate on his work and leave border enforcement to us,” Homan told reporters at the White House.
Homan didn’t hold back, pointing out that Vatican City itself is surrounded by a wall while the pope condemns Trump’s efforts to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
“He has a wall around the Vatican, does he not? So he has a wall to protect his people and himself, but we can’t have a wall around the United States?”
MAGA Base to the Pope: Open the Vatican or Stay Quiet
Trump’s supporters flooded social media with scathing replies, challenging the pope to put his money where his mouth is and welcome millions of illegal immigrants into Vatican City.
Pro-Trump user “FedUpMajority” wrote:
“Fine, tell us when you’re ready to do your part and open the Vatican to millions of illegals, including gang members, rapists, human traffickers, and drug dealers. Until then, mind your own business.”
Another user, “Conservative Dude”, added:
“Great! How many migrants are you taking into the Vatican? We’ll fly them over.”
Even Trump’s evangelical and Catholic supporters were disgusted by the pope’s woke rhetoric, calling him the most leftist pope in history.
MAGA supporter Leesa B. Sarcasm tweeted:
“Quit pretending you’re not the most biased, woke pope we’ve ever had. You’ll never be loved like Pope John Paul II.”
Pope Francis: A Globalist Mouthpiece?
This isn’t the first time Pope Francis has sided against Trump. Back in 2016, he denounced Trump’s border wall, saying that anyone who “wants to build walls and not bridges is not a Christian.”
Meanwhile, he has done nothing to address the rampant scandals and corruption within the Catholic Church, instead focusing on pushing globalist open-border policies.
What’s Next? Trump Isn’t Backing Down
Despite the pope’s virtue-signaling, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isn’t slowing down. Large-scale immigration detentions are already ramping up, and Trump’s historic deportation plan is moving forward.
Pope Francis can lecture all he wants, but the reality is clear—Trump is putting Americans first while the globalist elite try to weaken borders and push their open-border fantasy.
And the American people aren’t buying it.
