Recently, a senior fellow of the Atlantic Council, Evelyn Farkas began working hard to revitalize the “Russiagate” story. She is the former deputy assistant attorney of Defense under the Obama administration. She told MSNBC recently that they know things that “Trump folks” don’t know about why Democrats illegally spied on the Trump campaign.
She said, “If The Trump folks found out how we knew what we knew about Trump’s staff dealing with the Russians, they would try to compromise those sources and methods, to ensure that we would no longer have access to that intelligence.”
But Farkas admitted that she had lied to Congress when Rep. Trey Gowdy pressed her. He said “Why don’t we go back to that sentence where you said if the Trump folks found out how we (the U.S. government) knew what we knew, they would try to compromise those sources.”
Farkas indicated that she understood him. Then Gowdy asked, “How would you know that the U.S. government knew when at that point, you did not work for the government?”
She then admitted that she did not know what the government is meant to have known.
In short, the Obama administration is back to lying about Russian collusion. This time their tactic is to claim that the lack of evidence against Trump is evidence of a cover-up by Trump. Brilliant.
You won’t hear much about this from the mainstream media. They are still laboring under the misapprehension that the Obama presidency was scandal-free. Never-mind the massacre at Waco, Texas. Pay no heed to the gun-running scandal that killed federal employees. Don’t worry about the pallets of cash he sent to Iran to fund their nuclear program. And don’t give a second thought to the fact that Obama gave money to the Wuhan laboratory from which the coronavirus possibly leaked.
The Obama administration was one of the dirtiest and weakest presidencies in recent memory. The fact is that this time, Trump may have his anti-Constitutional political opponents in the Obama administration on the ropes.
For starters, we know beyond any shadow of doubt that the Russian collusion investigation was based on wrongfully-obtained, non-evidence, accessed through illegal spying. The claims of Russian involvement in the election of Donald Trump have been many, spurious, and largely childish. By now, that fact is accepted by all sensible people who are paying attention.
But the corrupt Leftists in the media and the Democratic Party are not concerned about who knows the truth or how much proof they have. What they care about is keeping the maximum possible number of people believing their false narrative.
The Democrats have always understood and embraced that fact. That’s why they are always pushing narratives rather than working to make a solid case for their arguments.
So it is no surprise that, at a time when the Trump administration is gearing up to pursue consequences for what the President is calling “Obamagate,” the Democrats are returning to their Russian collusion story.
