A renowned political analyst cautioned this week that former President Trump could be taking a gamble if he skipped this week’s first GOP primary debate because he wouldn’t be able to respond to criticism while his leading rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, would take “center stage” during the event.
Rick Klein, the political director for ABC News, said these things at a time when the former president is facing problems that have never been seen before. This year, he has been charged in four different criminal cases.
Jonathan Karl, presenter of “This Week” on ABC News, questioned Klein about whether Trump would be taking a chance by skipping the debate.
“Oh, yes, definitely,” Klein said. “And the other contenders are—he’ll get a lot of criticism and won’t be able to answer it well. This comes after the charges were brought against people in Georgia last week. He hasn’t been able to say much about that in public. Even the press meeting he was going to hold has been called off. So, he’ll be out there, but he won’t be able to fight back in real-time.”
“He is about to perform some counter-programming at this point. He’ll essentially test the idea that he doesn’t have to interact with the other contenders,” Klein said. “But for the other contenders, if you believe that this is a contest to emerge as the non-Trump candidate, now is the ideal time to accomplish so with Ron DeSantis now occupying the spotlight. They’ll get a chance to show off their skills without having to worry about his always-powerful direct response. He will be mentioned a lot. But there will be a risk with him not being there as well.”
For me I simply remember THE POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING THE 4 YEARS HE SERVED AS OUR PRESIDENT! I appreciate his service to our Nation and accomplishments which helped other countries!
Indeed: Trump is not running on promises as almost every other candidate in the history of America. He is running on a stellar performance as President at the same time he was standing off the deep state hell bent on stopping him, and that deep state attack is still ongoing. PLEASE don’t let them win or our country is lost, short of a bloody revolution.
We need Trump back or this country is going to hell. He is running on his previous performance. We all know that he did for the country and the people of America.
I’m with you!! I will not even watch the debates. To me, each one of them is not a Patriot – to run against a man that had a stolen election, and has accomplished so much when he WAS president. (To me…he still is. Biden is not fit to wipe DJT’s tush.) MAGA and vote for DJT!! I am praying all of the evil coming against him will come back to bite those who are involved in dishing it out. They are all in bed with the communists. (Not what our soldiers fought and died for.) It is a pity what we have been witnessing happen not only to DJT but to all of the Patriots.
