The Affordable Care Act was sold to the American people by the Obama Administration as the end-all-be-all of healthcare reforms. When it finally went into effect, the website didn’t even work, giving us a dark preview into the world of government-run medical programs.
Now, with a federal judge ruling that the entire ACA was unconstitutional from the very beginning, lawmakers have a clear mandate to put together a replacement. The problem is that Americans are so spooked by the last time the government overhauled the healthcare sector, that they seem willing to defend the status quo. Most Americans felt the same way in 2009 before Obamacare was passed.
