The United States has elevated Gina Haspel, the first women to run the CIA, and America’s enemies are suddenly afraid — very afraid.
To look on the new Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, she appears mild mannered, unassuming, like a small-town neighbor, bank manager or a kindly grandmother. Along with her nondescript appearance, Haspel comes across as soft spoken and polite. But, this everyday woman from Ashland, Kentucky, earned her bones as a deep-cover spy.
For more than 30 years, Haspel hid in plain sight, rooting out America’s most heinous enemies in countries such as Turkey, Ethiopia, Central Asia and numerous undisclosed locations. Much of her 30-plus-year career as a U.S. spy remains Top Secret. But, people around the world know she took lead at one “Dark Site” in Thailand, where terrorists were subjected to waterboarding and other “enhanced interrogation techniques” after the 9-11 attacks. Left-leaning media outlets have dubbed her the “Torture Queen.”
1: Haspel Is A Spy’s Spy
Consider going to work day after day watching as your supervisor makes a mess of things. Many bureaucrats get bogged down in the details. People that do the real job are the real experts about the most effective ways to get things done. Gina Haspel put in the work while politicians fumbled around without hands-on experience. Now comes the first rank-and-file covert operative to take the reins of the CIA.
She’s a woman who thwarted America’s enemies, including top-level terrorists, around the world and was never discovered. Were there moments when Haspel, like her undercover colleagues, thought the nation’s best interests would be best served by grabbing any enemy combatant and putting him in a dark hole? Did she, like other spies, ask for approval to eliminate threats around the globe only to be denied? Will the orders coming down from the top be different when field agents request extreme measures? America’s enemies can count on it.
2: Haspel Could Subject Enemies to Extreme Measures
During the Senate confirmation hearings, Democrat presidential hopeful Kamala Harris took her time to fan the flames of her liberal base. While that was neither unexpected or productive in garnering her potential votes, one particular question and answer resonated around the world.
Sen. Harris asked: “Do you believe that the previous interrogation techniques were immoral?”
Haspel referred to the liberal senator to the Army Field Manual on Human Intelligence Collector Operations. During the Bush Administration “enhanced interrogation” techniques were not specifically prohibited, and Haspel took some of the world’s most notorious terrorists to task. She used techniques often called “torture” without reservation. At the “Cat’s Eye” dark site in Thailand, terrorists were stuffed into coffins, waterboarded, and subjected to physical pain and mental anguish. They were responsible for murdering thousands of American civilians, including children.
The architect of the 9-11 Attacks, Khalid Shaik Mohammed, was reportedly waterboarded 183 times Was that “immoral?” Haspel could care less.
If it’s not specifically prohibited, she’s will to do whatever it takes to protect American lives. Extreme measures are on the table for America’s enemies.
3: Haspel Cannot Be Politically Controlled
The CIA has a long and distinguished reputation for being among the most effective spy agencies in history. Unfortunately, many who have led the agency have been political puppets. Consider the more recent CIA directors.
Mike Pompeo: The career Washington politician is widely considered a political hardliner. The Harvard-educated former U.S. Rep., was installed by Pres. Trump and recently took the reins as Secretary of State.
John Brennan: The Obama-era puppet has emerged as a go-to shill for the Democratic Party. He is routinely interviewed by left-leaning and fake news outlets to criticize Pres. Trump. Ironically, he continues to claim he is nonpartisan.
Leon Panetta: The career liberal politician walked into the Washington, D.C., swamp in 1977 as a congressman, and has never held a private sector job since. He was Pres. Clinton’s chief of staff and a liberal darling who Obama elevated to director of the CIA, despite no law enforcement or covert experience. He was a paper-pushing, go-along-to-get-along guy willing to give Democrats what they wanted.
Unlike her predecessors, CIA Director Gina Haspel has no political allegiances. Her field work has taught her exactly what it takes to keep Americans safe in their beds at night. No foreign power can call up an elected official and seek favoritism through ties to the CIA director. Even Pres. Trump barely has personal ties to Haspel. For perhaps the first time in history, the CIA has a director beyond political reach.
With Gina Haspel running CIA, America’s enemies will not sleep easy. Iran cannot call John Kerry to ask for mercy. If you threaten the USA, you will fall into the dangerous crosshairs of CIA Director Gina Haspel. It’s that simple.
