Biden Coverup – DOJ Refuses To Hand Over Evidence

The Justice Dept. maintains that the Oversight committees are not acting in the spirit of “legitimate oversight” by denying them access to the audio recording of then-special counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Biden regarding his handling of classified documents.

Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte stated that the department has now answered each of the four subpoenas given by the committees in a letter acquired by the Washington Examiner and addressed to Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) of the Judiciary Committee and Chairman James Comer (R-KY) of the Oversight Committee. Uriarte wrote that after releasing what they consider to be the appropriate information about Hur’s investigation—which produced no referral for criminal charges against the president—the DOJ is yet concerned about the “threats of criminal contempt” from the committees.

Uriarte said, “Given the Department’s actual actions, it is impossible to explain the Committee’s reaction in terms of any lack of knowledge or frustration with any informational or investigative necessity.” It is concerning that the committees are dissatisfied with you, not because you were unaware of the knowledge but rather because of it.

The timing of Uriarte’s letter coincides with the House Republicans’ ongoing efforts to remove Biden from office as part of a wider probe of the president and his family. Republicans in the House have continued to accuse President Donald Trump of operating under a “two-tiered judicial system” in the wake of Biden’s lack of criminal charges for handling secret materials.

In addition to sending a letter on March 25 requesting that the Justice Department provide unredacted transcripts along with recordings from Hur’s audio interview with the president, Comer and Jordan subpoenaed the department in February and threatened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress if they did not comply.

By exposing the speaker’s cadence, use of filler words, and other details not recorded in a written transcript, audio recordings of the interview may provide further insight into Biden’s mental clarity, a source of contention for House Republicans.

The Justice Department, however, has resisted these demands, claiming that it has already given the committees all the data required for them to perform their constitutionally mandated oversight.

Uriarte stated, “The Department has worked tirelessly at every step of the road to accommodate the demands of the Committees and to fulfill the AG’s commitment to transparency.”

“What the President and Mr. Hur’s team said in the interview, and the Committees’ particular focus on continuing to want information that is cumulative of what we have already gave you, are concerning to the Department as they may not be interested in receiving information in support of legitimate oversight or investigative functions, but rather in serving political purposes that have no place in the handling of law enforcement files,” the attorney general assistant went on.

According to Uriarte, the committees have not established a “remaining investigative purpose” for their request for the audio data, even if they did have one.

Uriarte wrote that it is “particularly important” for the committees to “articulate any remaining needs” and that “it appears to the Dept. that any data in these files that is related to the committees’ purposes is cumulative of the information already given, including in the transcript.”

Uriarte said, “With today’s production, you now have the material you asked for.” The Department is happy to hear more from the Committees, but at this moment, your additional demands look attenuated to the Committees’ stated aims.”

The Washington Examiner requested comments from Comer, Jordan, and ranking members of the committee, Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Jerry Nadler (D-NY).

  1. A reason to explore the documentary side of the evidence is to reveal the truth of the matter for all to see!

  2. Again ??? Sad isn’t it. We can’t depend on our so called law officials. No longer serve and protect, now … lie and cover up …

  3. The question to the DOJ should be if you have sent all we asked for! There should be nothing! Absolutely nothing for the DOJ to keep from the comity! Right now it would seem the DOJ has not given what they asked for and the DOJ is the criminal in this. By doing the we already did it which the entire world knows is BS! DOJ as corrupt as it is needs to send the entire report with videos in tacked! If they can’t. They should be charged. This sound like the old Democrat BS excuse for everything. Time for the DOJ to turn over 100%! Or be charged! And no third choice!
