As Hungary’s leader, Viktor Orban openly backed and approved Donald Trump, pushing him to “keep fighting” as the former president prepares to appear in a Manhattan courtroom.
Orban shared a photo of the two men smiling while talking at Trump’s New Jersey home last August.
The Hungarian president was in the nation to speak at the CPAC in Texas.
“Mr. President, don’t give up! “We support you,” Orban said in a declaration on Monday.
Trump is due to appear in court on Tuesday in what will be the first criminal trial of a former US president. He has said he did nothing wrong.
AP reports In 2016, Orban became Europe’s first national leader to publicly support Trump for president. He also stated his backing for Trump’s 2020 presidential candidacy.
Last year, as Orban campaigned for re-election to a fourth term as the country’s Prime Minister of Hungary, Trump praised Orban as a “strong leader” and praised his anti-illegal immigration initiatives.
“He has my full endorsement and support for reelection as Prime Minister!” Trump declared in a January 2022 statement.
Trump has verified on social media that he will travel into New York on Monday to prepare for his upcoming court appearance. “America was not supposed to be this way!” he wrote before departing.
According to Breitbart News, Trump verified on his own Truth Social network that he will leave his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida for Manhattan at midday ET on Monday.
