The organization most closely associated with fake news remains determined to continue its anti-Trump death spiral and the phony impeachment inquiry has them racing toward bankruptcy.
It may be prudent to clarify the “bankruptcy” term because CNN has long-ago abandoned any semblance of journalist ethics. As the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party, it is already morally bankrupt. But the consistent ratings plummets that have occurred since President Donald Trump turned the fake news media outlet on its head by winning the 2016 election appears to have its coffers running thin.
It’s well-know that CNN has been forced to downsize its staff and offer workers buyouts because it could no longer meet salary obligations. The animosity CNN CEO Jeff Zucker reportedly harbors against the president appears to have derailed all reason, logic, and business sense. The rating drops have been nothing short of humiliating in the “news” industry, and the public has lost all trust that CNN celebrity hosts are telling the truth. The decision to focus almost exclusively on the partisan impeachment inquiry is another misstep that is already unraveling.
The recent release of the October cable news rating put CNN in its usual third place in a field of three. But the ratings at CNN are becoming frighteningly low from a functional business perspective. During the great Russia hoax that cost taxpayers upwards of $32 million, CNN and MSNBC guaranteed the president would be unseated due to collusion. That huge nothing-burger caused MSNBC’s ratings to go off the cliff. In contrast, CNN was already halfway down, and it could only suffer moderate viewer loss because few people tuned in anyway.
The October numbers show an organization on the brink. CNN could not muster 1 million or more viewers in any significant category. In the lucrative primetime advertising category, Fox News continued its dominance with 2.829 million viewers. Trailing by a substantial margin, MSNBC garnered 1.575 million, and CNN failed miserably at 931,000. During the final week of October, as CNN went all-in on the impeachment hoax, things got even rockier after Zucker pressed the staff to push the farce over news items that matter to everyday Americans.
“We are at an incredibly important time in history and this country and this is the story,” Zucker reportedly told CNN staff members. “This is it and I want to be fully committed to it, and not take our eye off this ball. I also don’t want to be afraid to call out those who are covering it up and obfuscating and coming out and saying there’s nothing to see here, because they’re lying.”
The public has already learned from other outlets that the “hoaxblower” at the center of Ukraine-Gate is a card-carrying Democrat with ties to Joe Biden. He or she was reportedly in contact with California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff to concoct the suspicious claim that the president overstepped by prompting Ukraine’s President Zelensky to investigate Biden family corruption. It’s common knowledge that Biden’s son, Hunter, did take Ukraine money while the Obama-era vice president brought pressure to bear. Hunter Biden has confessed to taking millions from Ukraine and China without bringing any expertise or valuable work to the table. It was all influence-peddling and that spells corruption.
The reality is that CNN and Zucker are again trying to mislead voters, and they have already been exposed. The fake news outlet handed Hillary debate questions to gain an unfair advantage over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders back in 2016, and their assurances of having the Russian goods on President Trump proved false. Ask yourself: Who’s lying?
In October, Fox led all comers — as usual — with 2.672 million primetime viewers, and CNN suffered a stinging decline at 884,000. Even basic math shows that CNN has less than one-third of the audience as the leader in cable news. President Trump has characterized the fake news organization and its CEO as “sad and pathetic.” It’s difficult to perceive the incredible decline over the years as anything else. CNN was once ranked among the leaders in credible news reporting. These days, it’s commitment to phony impeachment propaganda make it seem like a late-night comedy show, without the funny punchlines.
