CNN’s Jeff Zucker will no longer be heading the “most trusted name in news” in 2021, longtime pundit Bill O’Reilly recently predicted.
Speaking to Chris Salcedo on Newsmax TV, the former Fox News host reacted to the months-worth of internal CNN editorial calls obtained by James O’Keefe and Project Veritas. The calls allegedly cast serious doubt on CNN’s branding as an objective news outlet — but that mask came off years ago at this point. According to O’Reilly, the news network is about to see some serious changes.
“Jeff Zucker is on the outs,” O’Reilly said. “AT&T is going to boot him. That’ll happen shortly after Christmas.”
We’re not sure if O’Reilly has some sort of crystal ball he’s not telling the rest of us about, but this is a serious possibility. Throughout the Trump era, CNN marketed itself as the hub of the resistance. Now, as it appears that all the red flags raised about voter fraud will fall upon deaf ears, that era is about to come to an end. While this ostensibly what CNN viewers want — this is very bad for the network.
How is CNN going to generate controversy when its reporters go back to kowtowing to the Biden Administration? This simply just isn’t good television. While it’s true that the network’s ratings have constituently lagged behind Fox News (until very recently), CNN actually saw a bump over the past four years due to its overt activism for the left. Once Joe Biden is inaugurated, Zucker is out of tricks.
The CNN tapes in question are still being examined. O’Reilly further predicts that there will be plenty of “anti-Trump stuff” — which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who even remotely pays attention to the media landscape.
Whatever happens, the future for CNN looks bleak at best.
