According to a Florida Atlantic University Mainstreet PolCom Lab survey, former President Trump now has a 20-point advantage against Governor Ron DeSantis in the state.
According to the report, Florida Republicans continue to support the former president even within DeSantis’s district.
Trump is supported in the crowded Republican primary field by 50% of GOP primary voters throughout the Sunshine State. In the Florida primary, DeSantis finishes in a distant second with 30% of the vote.
No other contender even comes close. Vivek Ramaswamy, an anti-woke entrepreneur, places third with 4% of the vote, 26 points behind DeSantis. Just 3% of voters supported Senator Tim Scott, who was followed by 2% each for former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, as well as former Vice President Mike Pence.
Only 1% of people supported Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina.
In addition, the poll revealed that one in five Republicans consider backing a candidate who is not Trump to be “disloyal” – a salient criticism of Trump with regard to DeSantis.
In a recent Truth Social post, Trump claimed that “Patriots” are upset by disloyalty and that “Ron DeSanctimonious is getting totally ‘demolished’ for his performance in New Hampshire.”
“There aren’t any crowds, energy, or interest. His campaign is in shambles. He is seriously damaging his prospects for 2028. See, the Patriots are loyal, right?” Trump continued.
Even while Trump defeats DeSantis in a head-to-head contest 54 percent to 37 percent, the poll found that since April, when DeSantis first entered the presidential campaign, the difference between Trump and DeSantis has shrunk by seven points. The poll also indicated that Trump and DeSantis would both defeat President Biden in a head-to-head contest by 10% and 13%, respectively. And even if Trump leads by 20 points, 54 percent of Floridians still think DeSantis is doing a good job leading the state.
933 voters in Florida were surveyed from June 27 to July 1, 2023. The margin of error is 3.2 percent, plus or minus.
The findings are consistent with recent state-level polls that have shown Trump as the clear front-runner in the GOP race. Trump has a 32-point advantage against DeSantis in a recent CWS Research poll in Texas, and a 23-point advantage over DeSantis in an American Greatness poll in Iowa.
POLL: DeSantis Pulls Ahead – Do You Think Trump Can BEAT Him?
Does A BEAR shit in the woods? Does a chicken have lips? Does a fat baby Fart?
I would prefer DeSantis. Trump is caring to much baggage and outrage from the press. All of this will cripple him once he takes power.
