Never Back Down, a pro-DeSantis super PAC, issued an advertisement this week criticizing former President Trump for his prior backing of transgender competitors in competition against women during the Miss Universe pageant.
As he seeks a second term in office, Trump has pledged to “defeat the cult centered around gender ideology,” but only ten years ago, he supported allowing a male who identified as a woman to enter the competition in the Miss Universe pageant, which he controlled at the time. In regards to Jenna Talaackova, a 23-year-old Canadian, being a “woman,” Trump argued that guys who identify as being women should be allowed to enter the competition.
Trump begins the advertisement by making comments from this year, “I speak of transgender, everybody goes crazy. Who would’ve thought that just five years back you did not understand what the hell it was?”
The advertisement then goes to Judge Jeanine Pirro of Fox News explaining that in 2012, “Donald Trump made an unpopular choice about allowing a transgender woman, born biologically a man, to participate in the Miss Universe beauty pageant.”
In an interview at that time, Trump stated, “I said, ‘Let her run,’ and I believe I made the correct decision; I feel great with the decision.”
The advertisement then flips to Talaackova discussing the “pretty intense” medical procedure he underwent in order to transition.
“She had a right to compete, that was clear to us,” Trump stated in the interview at the time.
When questioned whether it would be considered “fair” for a transgender person to win the competition, Olivia Culpo responded that she does embrace the idea.
“As there is a custom of natural-born women,” she stated, “I feel that would be considered fair, but I recognize why individuals would be a little hesitant to go down that road. However, today given that there are a lot of surgeries and a lot of individuals out there who are feeling the desire to change to obtain a better quality of life, I embrace that because I’m convinced it’s a free country.”
Culpo’s response was met with a compliment from Trump, who stated: “She gave an excellent answer and she truly did a great job.”
According to a snippet from the film, when asked whether “transgender women may participate in Miss Universe in the foreseeable future,” Trump said “Yes.”
Trump must be crazy…..he does not need to run with transgenders, I am appalled to even think of it….We all liked Trump but this is a looser!!!! Also the VP thing with Robert Kennedy is a mistake!!!!!
DeSantis likes to blow smoke out his A$$!
