Liberals Want You to Think The Russians Are Targeting Joe Biden

Liberal activists and journalists who can’t accept the simple fact that someone they didn’t like won the last presidential election are now reviving the old “Russia interference” lie, with a few adaptations.

This time, the Kremlin is supposedly trying to prevent former Vice President Joe Biden from winning the nomination. The same talking heads that pushed the “Russia hacked the election” narrative four years ago are now warning mainstream news media outlets that Russian President Vladimir Putin knows how to “convince people of outright falsehoods,” and claiming that Russia is “using social media and other tools to inflame social divisions, promote conspiracy theories and sow distrust in democracy and elections.”

These so-called experts also state that it is guaranteed that Russia “will keep up its influence campaigns and utilize new vectors of disinformation.” Apparently, this “disinformation campaign will be even more brazen than it was during the 2016 presidential elections or the 2018 mid-term elections.”

There are still plenty of people who believe the “Russia stole the election” lie who will also automatically eat this up. However, even a cursory look at basic facts makes it apparent that there is no way that Russia can ultimately determine who wins in 2020. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn’t lose because of Russian interference — she lost because millions of voters couldn’t stand her.

Here’s the truth: the Democrats are doing a great job of losing without Russian interference. The huge split between the moderate and progressive wings of the party is almost impossible to bridge as far-left candidates won’t accept someone like Biden. Moderate Democrats and independents aren’t going to vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, or anyone else who wants to kick them off of their health insurance.

The “Russia stole our election” narrative has been used by Democratic partisans to silence arguments they don’t like. These talking points apparently include news of Joe and Hunter Biden’s shenanigans in Ukraine, even though it’s common knowledge that Hunter Biden, who had been kicked out of the Navy for cocaine use, was given a high-paying job at a Ukrainian energy company even though he had no experience in that field. It’s also a known fact that the senior Biden threatened to withhold vital aid to Ukraine unless the government forced out the prosecutor who was investigating his son’s employer.

While these inconvenient facts are certainly cropping up at a bad time, calling the scandals “Russian talking points” because they benefit a candidate that Russia may or may not even like borders on absurdity.

Is Russia trying to tank former Vice-President Joe Biden’s campaign? Not likely. After all, it doesn’t really need to. The GOP is raising an enormous amount of money, and President Donald Trump’s polling numbers are surprisingly stable. It also helps that most Americans acknowledge that the economy is doing very well, and are overall satisfied with Trump’s foreign policy moves. It isn’t “Russian interference” just because your candidates are terrible…
