Rudy Giuliani Makes A Shocking Announcement Nobody Expected

In an overnight court filing, Rudy Giuliani, a former mayor of New York City and ardent supporter of Donald Trump, acknowledged that he had made “false” statements about two Georgia election workers whom he had accused of rigging the presidential election in 2020. He also stated that he ” doesn’t contest” the factual claims made in a defamation lawsuit aimed at him.

The court document, which was made public this week, was in response to a request made by election officials whom he charged with “rigging” the results of the state’s voting.

WHEREAS, Defendant Giuliani feels that he has legitimate defenses to this Complaint, the document states; and

Considering that Defendant Giuliani wants to avoid spending money on conflicts that are, in his opinion, pointless to litigate,

“IT IS HEREBY STIPULATED, ENTIRELY FOR THE MATTER OF THIS LITIGATION, THAT Defendant Giuliani, for the sole purpose of resolving this case on the legal matters, and in recognition of the fact that each of the other defendants that were previously named in the complaint have settled their arguments against all plaintiffs without actually admitting to the truth of the charges, hereby doesn’t dispute the following allegations:”

1. Defendant Giuliani acknowledges, solely for the intent of this litigation before the present Court as well as the Appeal, that he had made the statements with regard to and pertaining to the Plaintiffs, including all of the statements listed in the Plaintiffs modified Complaint, ECF No. 22 at 57-101, and he doesn’t contest, for the purposes regarding this litigation, the fact that the statements have a meaning that makes them defamatory per se;

2. That Defendant Giuliani solely made such remarks to third parties for the purpose of this lawsuit;

3. That Defendant Giuliani does not dispute that the remarks were false to the degree that they were assertions of fact that were otherwise actionable for the purposes of this case exclusively. This stipulation has no bearing on Giuliani’s right to setoff, offset, or settlement credit, his claim that his opinions, as well as statements, are protected by the First Amendment, any applicable statute of limitations, whether or not Giuliani’s statements actually caused Plaintiffs any harm, the dollar amount of any purported harm that Giuliani’s statements may have resulted in, or any additional legal defense perhaps not clearly waived by this stipulation;

4. That Defendant Giuliani doesn’t contest, entirely for the purposes of the said litigation, which includes on any appeal during this litigation, all of the factual elements of the liability pertaining to the Plaintiffs’ claim for deliberate infliction of emotional distress as well as other related tort claims (subject to any remaining affirmative arguments not expressly waived herein). This agreement has no bearing on Giuliani’s right to pursue setoff, offset, or settlement credit, his claim that his opinions, as well as statements, are protected by the First Amendment, any applicable statute of limitations, whether Giuliani’s actions actually caused Plaintiffs any damages, the dollar amount of any claimed damages Giuliani’s actions may have resulted in, or any other legal defense that has not been expressly waived by this agreement.

Even though Giuliani acknowledged making “false statements,” the brief asserts that his claims are “constitutionally protected.” Although I don’t practice law, it appears to me that there is a significant distinction between expressing one’s views and making untrue accusations.

  1. False statements must be okay because Hunter Biden has made them and nothing has happened to him. Lied twice on fed gun form 1. separated from military under less than honorable conditions for drug test failure and 2. user of illegal drugs. Most people would go to jail and pay a fine.

  2. At least he admitted it and when they is heated arguments, we may see something as truth and it could even be partly truth but not in the same degree as they see truth. Does that make him a liar?

  3. Stupider article. Not an admission of guilt. Same BS the Banks and Corporations do… They plead guilty to settle so they don’t have to spend a lot of time, money and effort to actually go to trial, while all the time stating that the settlement is not an admission of guilt. Another typical idiot journalistic title to article to hype up an otherwise boring story
