Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is calling for transparency from President Joe Biden’s administration regarding the allocation of taxpayer funds originally intended for American veterans. Reports have emerged accusing Biden’s agencies of diverting resources from the Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide healthcare to illegal aliens.
In a letter to VA Secretary Denis McDonough, Blackburn is seeking clarification on the extent of VA funds being used for illegal aliens, especially those in ICE detention facilities or those deported. She highlights concerns about the misuse of taxpayer money, pointing out that in Fiscal Year 2022, approximately $95 million meant for veterans was reportedly spent on medical care for illegal aliens. Similarly, in Fiscal Year 2021, over $74 million was budgeted by ICE for the VA’s contractor for medical claims processing for illegal immigrants.
Blackburn contrasts this with the long waiting times and backlog veterans face in getting their claims processed. Over a million veterans are currently waiting for their claims, with an average processing time of about five months, though Blackburn indicates this figure is expected to rise.
The senator is adamant that the VA’s primary responsibility is to serve those who have served the nation, not to prioritize illegal immigrants. She cites the influx of over 8.5 million illegal immigrants, including known “gotaways” and individuals on the terror watchlist, as exacerbating the issue.
Calling for the VA to cease allocating resources to illegal immigrants, Blackburn also queries whether the Biden administration directly instructed the VA to provide such care and benefits to illegal immigrants and the legal grounds that permit such a transfer of services.
In response to these concerns, Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) introduced the “No VA Resources for Illegal Aliens Act” to prevent the VA from using its resources for illegal aliens’ healthcare. This bill has gained support from several co-sponsors, including Blackburn and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC).

My partner/boyfriend is a Vietnam vet. During his time there, he was doused with Agent Orange and has had a compromised pulmonary system since. For the last 3-4 months, when he attempted to order his inhaler through the VA, he was told it was “not available.” I finally convinced him to not take NO for an answer and he approached the VA with more determination, asking why it was suddenly unavailable. Couple days later, he receives a phone call from the VA, saying that they had “noticed” he was out and they were sending him his COPD med asap. That evening, Marsha Washburn was on the news, with this story that the VA earmarked meds had been rerouted to the huge onslaught of illegals. . . .ie his much-required meds had been rerouted to the illegals. So, it was available to the illegals, but NOT to a guy who fought for his country. Doesn’t that infuriate you? Do you believe that was a coincidence?
