According to a Rasmussen Reports poll issued on Tuesday, the majority of likely voters anticipate a rematch between former President Donald Trump and President Joseph Biden in 2024.
According to the survey, 64% of likely voters think it is at least “somewhat” likely that Biden will be the Democratic nominee in 2024. Most Democrats (83%) think it’s likely that Biden, who is currently 80 years old, will be the nominee, along with 54% of Republicans and 55% of independents.
Similarly, Trump will be the GOP nominee in 2024, according to 64 percent of all likely voters. To put it another way, the majority of voters believe that a Trump-Biden rematch will occur in the 2020 presidential election.
The belief that Trump will be the GOP nominee in 2024 is shared by 80% of Republicans, 60% of Democrats, and 54% of independents.
In addition, the poll revealed that Democrats are more likely than Republicans to say they will vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is 57 percent vs. 53 percent of Republicans indicated they would support the GOP nominee regardless of who it may be.
Rasmussen Reports: “As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the electorate is evenly split. In 2024, 27% of Likely Voters say they will vote for the Democratic candidate regardless of who it is, while 27% say they would vote for the Republican candidate regardless of who it is. No matter whose party they are a member of, 42% of respondents say they will vote for the candidate they choose.”
“Regarding party allegiance, Democrats appear to have an advantage over Republicans. Democrats will vote for their party’s nominee in 2024 regardless of who it is, according to 57% of Democrats, while Republicans would vote for the GOP nominee regardless of who it is, according to 53% of Republicans. Republicans are more likely than Democrats to indicate they will vote for the candidate they find most appealing (38% vs. 31%).”
The margin of error for the survey, which was conducted from March 14–16, 2023, among 972 probable voters, is +/– 3%.
That occurs as Trump maintains his lead in 2024 GOP primary polls after making headlines over the weekend by stating that he anticipates being detained this week as part of the ongoing investigation in Democrat Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg’s office. For instance, the Morning Consult poll conducted on Tuesday revealed that Trump’s popularity increased over the previous week, rising from 52% to 54%.
