The former president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, outlined his proposals for a “sweeping pro-American revamp of our tax and trade policy” with the goal of boosting American manufacturing and reducing reliance on China.
Trump attacked President Joe Biden in a campaign video that was aired on Monday, saying that despite his promises to support American manufacturing, Biden is “pushing the very same pro-China globalist agenda that tore the industrial heart out of our country.”
In his speech, Trump outlined his plan to “transition from the Biden system, which penalizes home manufacturers and favors outsourcers, to a system, which honors domestic production and taxes foreign businesses and those who export American jobs.”
“In order to accomplish this, we will gradually implement a system of universal base-line tariffs on the majority of foreign goods. Additionally, greater duties will rise gradually based on how much each foreign country’s currency devalues,” according to Trump.
He noted that once the new tariff system is implemented, taxes on American producers will decline, allowing domestic firms to increase employment.
“Increased tariffs on foreign producers will result in much lower taxes for domestic producers, which will result in a significant increase in jobs. This system will not only eliminate our enormous trade deficits—which are currently enormous—and restore millions of American jobs, but it will also allow us to invest the trillions of dollars that will flow into the US Treasury from foreign nations into American workers, American families, and American communities.”
“This strategy will serve as the cornerstone of a new strategic manufacturing initiative that builds on my prior achievement in repealing NAFTA.”
In order to “totally reduce dependence on China in all crucial areas,” Trump then concentrated his whole attention on China and proposed a number of policy initiatives, including phasing out all important imports.
He clarified:
“We will withdraw China’s most-favorable-nation designation in international trade and implement a four-year plan to gradually phase out all imports of basic products from China, including everything from electronics to steel to medicines. Strong safeguards will be put in place to ensure that China cannot get around limits by sending goods through conduit countries, or nations that don’t produce any commodities but suddenly export a lot of them. It enters our nation directly after passing through and out of China.”
“We’ll also establish new regulations to prevent American businesses from investing heavily in China and to prevent China from acquiring American enterprises. Additionally, we won’t award any federal contracts to businesses that outsource work to China.”
Biden “would never get the job done,” according to the 45th president, and “he is weak on China because the crooked Biden family has gotten millions of dollars from entities connected to the Chinese Communist Party.”
The trade deficit surpassed $1 trillion last year after increasing 12.2 percent since 2021, according to a New York Times study published earlier this month. Additionally, according to Ana Swanson, a trade and international economics reporter for the Times, “the U.S. trade imbalance with China climbed 8.3 percent annually to $382.9 billion, the second-highest sum on record.”
President Trump, You are getting close to revealing too much. The Democrats & dirty Rinos’ will do everything now and from this point on, to submarine your future plans. There’s no one else capable of doing so much for our country and it’s people as you have already accomplished during your term. Enough people have woken up now and realize as I have that you’re not a politician, but a businessman that loves America and wants to see it prosper. You can’t be bought! The DP & DS are scrambling because of your efforts to make known to all who have sold themselves out. It amounts to many, but it’s not the majority. There’s enough of us that love our country, Constitution, it’s freedoms and liberties to take back what is ours so we clean up the swamp and then enjoy having our children grow up to become outstanding citizens that will stand tall at all times necessary. My concern is who your choice will be for Vice President. I originally thought that DeSantis would be perfect in that it would give him four years to become seasoned with solid international relationships, etc. He would then be ready to serve two consecutive terms as Commander and Chief from 2029 – 2036. This is of course what I believe best for America if he’s not bought off in the meantime. You both don’t have to be great friends, but if both of you put our country and our people first, I believe there’s that could stop the America First Policy.
